Title: How to extend the range of the Me 163B
Post by: Zylber on July 21, 2008, 05:14:56 AM
Take-off, flight with gear, re-load and landing without gear.

To me thats "gaming the game". If they had wanted you to have 163's at bases other than the one that covers HQ they would enable them at other bases. But I guess its your $15.

Seems like a lot of work when you can just up at the field about to be bombed in a K4 with gondolas and take the same time to altitude as this silly strategy.

Well that was a waste of time.

Might have been better if you found someone to shoot at.... but not by much.

Not long ago, I had a hard time handling this plane on the ground. With this sortie, I not only gain experience, I show others it is not so difficult. What was the point of your response?

I appreciate you trying to help but I was expecting maybe some narration or useful tips. Flying from one base to another refueling is a waste of time and serves no purpose. Nice landing, rearm and takeoff BTW

When I do take one up I get around 20+ in air or more depending on situation.

Take off full throt, climb a bit using 70% or less, level out get some speed, then climb a little slower using maybe 25% throt. Get to desired alt and use it, and your E  to get around. At this point, you'll be using mostly 0 throt and only occasionally using 25 to 50% when needed.

Once at alt, turning the eng off completely might not be a bad idea either but the plane is really just used for defending HQ in this game not traveling across the map looking for a furball. I suppose it could be fun to DWEEB it across the map with some squeakers

It's your 15 bucks :aok

Maybe you and your friends can set up a fuel efficiency race :)

Double R, the K4 doesn't have gondolas.   ;)

Pretty crafty.  Kudos to the person who thought of that (and did it).

Me?  I'd rather up something with much less work for high alt stuff, like the Spit14, P47N, or Bf109K4.  I suppose the P51D as well.
