1st read this story in the dallas morning news. Seems this is the 2nd bomber to be lost off of Guam. The 1st being the 1.2b B-2.
2 of the crew have been recovered but it doesnt say their condition.
:salute to the crews and hopefully they all make it out but, it doesnt look to good at this time.

I'm hoping the crew can be found safe and sound.
I am curious about the article. I think the author has the B52 confused with the P3 or something. I don't see how a B52 can monitor an extensive swath of ocean.
-
I'm hoping they find the rest of the crew alive but I'm not optimistic :(

radar my good man. radar

Remember, two of the B-52s ejection seats fire upwards. The other two fire downwards. Probably the reason only two crewmen have been recovered.
-
The aircraft that went down was 60-0053, I spent many hours of my life working on her. By the way four seats in the B-52 fire upward and two fire downward; there was six souls onboard.

Really? When did the B52 get equiped as a JSTAR or AWACS or as a P3?

Lol, big dam deal. I was off by two seats. Still doesn't change the fact that two of the seats eject downwards.

well it is a big deal considiering your "Facts" don't support your statement.
-
The point of my statement was to illustrate that some of the ejection seats of the B-52 fire downward. You better use your GI bill to go to college, because I can tell your dumb as hell.

lots of people care, if it was one of your relatives and they still had yet to be found dead or alive,
wouldn't you care?
-
I got on SIPRnet at work today, 6 folks on board...Pilot, co pilot, 2 rdr navs, ewo and a flight surgeaon from Andrson AB . They were on their way to flyover a parade.

Who cares? What a crass, uncaring, troophating statement. It's pretty obvious that you have never served in ANY branch of the U.S. military or you WOULD care.

Karma builds upon your soul (BadKarma). Im more than worried because I know those waters are hazardous even to some one completely prepared to deal with it.

Figured it must have been some low level work. There have been a couple of Buff crashes from pilot hot-dogging on the deck.

I fail to see how i should feel anymore compassion for these airmen than a ship that gos down getting alaskan crab and takes a few men with it. Get over it, or blame the designer who figures it would be best to have two seats fire below the falling* aircraft.
or jump on the hate ship and pretend its all my fault. :rock :D
If the plane was indeed flying that low, you all know dang well nothing but meat and torn clothing will be found (if anything) a body going at 500+ mph and impacting water/ground has a very..erhm..lasting effect. lets just hope death came quick if it came at all. And no, if it was a family member of mine, who was apparently too busted up to walk home after ground fall, i would not want them to survive. I remember where a airman ejected and the force was so violent it inbeded his shoe laces into his feet bones. I thought each seat has a tracking beacon on them, so pilots could be found in a (general) area making recovery quicker.
No thank you, like i said, if death came, i hope it was quick, and that these airmen are NOT laying somewhere busted and broken up, bleeding to death inside, slowly. or worse drowning while this all happens.
feel any better?
-
We're a pathetic bunch.
-
Unofficial rumor; both pilots didn't make it. :salute

It is good not to be you.

Wow bk. The nicest thing I can think of to say is that you really should go somewhere else. Don't go away mad, just go away, soon.
I'll second Slash's sentiment. It's damn good not to be you.

Those servicemen, whether engaging in flight for a parade, or taking off to deliver bombs are there in support of your freedoms. I support them in their duties just as I support your right to your freedoms. If no one served then where would your freedoms be? I can tell you; your freedoms would be completely sucked away by tyrants, dictators, and other scum. If you dont support the troops of this country then you dont deserve your freedoms. Thats my view and its my freedom to view things that way thanks in whole to troops of this nation both past and present.

7/23/2008 - ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam (AFPN) -- Air Force officials here determined July 23 that none of the six crewmembers survived the B-52 Stratofortress crash July 21 off Guam's northwest coast.
Search and rescue teams have now shifted their focus from rescue operations to recovery of the aircrew.
The joint civilian and military rescue teams recovered the bodies of two aircrew members July 21, one of whom has been identified as Maj. Christopher Cooper. The identity of the second crewmember is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Air Force forensic analysis specialists also are working toward identifying additional remains recovered.
The aircrew was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., and was deployed here with the 20th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron as part of the Defense Department's continuous bomber presence mission in the Pacific.
"Losing this bomber crew has been a tragedy felt by everyone here and across the Air Force," said Brig. Gen. Douglas H. Owens, the 36th Wing commander. "Our deepest sympathies and prayers are with the families of these Airmen as we continue to support them during this difficult time."
The scope of the search has been a massive cooperative effort with the Coast Guard, Navy, Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Guam Fire and Rescue and Police Department covering a 7,000-square mile area, General Owens said.
"I extend our sincerest gratitude to the men and women involved with this effort," the general said. "We are truly grateful for the passion and professionalism they continue to put into the recovery operations."
The aircraft was reported missing at approximately 10 a.m. July 21. The bomber was flying a training mission and was scheduled to perform a flyover for Guam's Liberation Day parade in Hagatna.
A board of officers is investigating the accident.

I don't know about you Jolly, but where I used to work, that type of disclosure was a court martial offense. You should be careful about what you post here.

I saw that they were headed to a parade flyover on the BBC website a few days ago. Your point still stands though.
<S> to those people, and God bless them.
