Eddie Rickenbacker was quite a chartacter. A pre WW1 Racer if my memory serves me, and what not everybody knows, he ended up on a raft/dinghie in the Pacific in WW2. (Navigation problem on a long flight, and ditching into the sea when running out of fuel). He was on the raft for quite a while, but survived.
Hat in the ring...

Eddie Rickenbacker = Eddie Rickenbacker

Baron von Richthofen = Freiherr Manfred von Richthofen.

von Richthofen's book was "Der Rote Kampf Fleiger" or "The Red Battle Flyer"  I have it...GREAT read.

That link is about Eddie Rickenbacker.

Thank you Rox...My mistake.  I somehow confused those two pilots in between windows.

Usually, my posting is of higher quality.  I'll keep myself on my toes from now on.

 :)  Ain't no big thing.

Any link to good pilot information and great history is a good thing.  I bookmarked it!  Wouldn't have known about it until you posted it!

Thank you Trucker!   :aok

BTW:  Batten down the hatches and find someplace safe, that hurricane is getting ugly down near you--stay safe bro!

Actually Trucker you've provided a very valuable public service today.  You've given me something to read at work to pass the time and kept me off of the boards I'm sure to many peoples delight :D

The hurricane is a LONG way to the east of me.  No worries there.

I recommend StumbleUpon for Firefox.  That's how I found that link.  I read through it and bookmarked it myself.  Then I thought it would make a good first post here after Cap1 invited me.  So here it, and I, am!

Well, given that Rickenbacker was of German descent and was supposedly suspected of being a German spy before he was accepted into the USAS, that's not too surprising.
