Obama is already president.........duh. ABC News traveled with him and is devoting most of the week to him. He is a hero and I think after his term in office, the presidential term limit will be abolished. And then we can make him a King. :aok

Why are you flying to the "bad lands" and talking to people about things you have no power over or control?
How many strokes on average for the hand jobs you will be giving out?
Do you go down when they demand, or just hand them our gold?
Who paid for your trip, more white christians who think because we had a black presedent in the "left behind" book/movies that obama's "the sure fire thing" ? If i remember correctly, inthe book & movies... he failed us.
Pluss the actor played a hero/leader turned ubber baddie in stargate sg-1, Hallow are the ori, right?
Just a bunch of questions, i hope someone has answers.
I would love to answer these questions but would prefer doing so in the flamewarriors forum where I might be more at liberty to express myself freely.
this particular forum in my opinion will not allow me to progress this dialog before it gets censored.

not up to the "old and confused" rhetoric the left are using on McCain? Rhetoric is just that, and it should be dismissed out of hand when recognized. The only way to cut through BS is get rid of the rhetoric and lawyers.

Yeah, and the leaders of old had a good war policy, total war.
It worked, policing a country, never works.
(?) Didn't areas like iraq, iran .ect support the nazi's in wwII? (?)

I watched a show on the History Channel and it mentioned something about how Iran's name is short for Hail the Aryan Race or something like that...
It was a very very long time ago, probably 2 years...

rhetoric:
the art or science of all specialized literary uses of language in prose or verse, including the figures of speech.
the study of the effective use of language.
the ability to use language effectively.
the art of prose in general as opposed to verse.
the art of making persuasive speeches; oratory.
the art of influencing the thought and conduct of an audience.
So you believe that effective use of language and the ability to be persuasive in speech or writing "should be dismissed out of hand when recognized."
OK

IMO good speaking skills are desirable in a man who is going to be representing the United States to the rest of the world.

So, it's pretty safe to assume you did not vote for GW ? ;)

Osamabama is, by far, THE best speaker. It is the content of his speech however, that scares the stew out of me, he is THE most liberal, far left Senator according to his voting record and in my book, just an old fashioned marxist. By the way, I would not give you 5 cents for McPain or his buddy "Miss Lindsey" Graham.
-
I decided to shut down business and not give any tax money to which ever regime wins this next race. I dont like forking money over to Dems or Marxists either one. Ill be on vacation until the country regains its senses. Please forward all mail to the Phils thank you.
-
Eh... I'll give Obama 1 year if he's elected, if things only get worse, than I'm gonna move out of the Country. Either Israel or somewhere else. (I'd like to live in a Country that has a "2nd Amendment" and a strong military, no matter how small the country is, I'd still feel safer.)

Seriously folks... where was the griping 3 weeks ago when McCain was in South and Central America?
The last word in your text might explain that.

Hitler was also a good speaker.

Somewhere in all that is the idea of "the art of persuasion." It doesn't matter what is true or right, its the convincing presentation or strategy. "An Inconvenient Truth" is a good example of empty rhetoric. I don't think you thought for a second I was suggesting people shouldn't write or speak effectively. Because I prefaced it with an example of empty rhetoric, I'm sure you knew I was referring to empty rhetoric. But using sophomoric rhetoric, you break out the old hooker, Merriam Webster, to confuse the point I was trying to make. Thats a perfect example of one more happy to wade in BS than have a truthful discussion.
Maybe you holden the groin too much?

latest obama prepared sound bite, "we are the change we have been waiting for".

Move to Liberia... you'll love it there :aok

Hitler was also a good speaker.
And the greatest statesman ever to live for 6 years (to be fair).
-
Maybe you holden the groin too much?
Talk about empty rhetoric... Making a joke out of a joke does not take much imagination.
My original point was that the level of political discourse needs to be raised in order to persuade.
How many strokes on average for the hand jobs you will be giving out?
Do you go down when they demand, or just hand them our gold?
This type of attempt at persuasion is lame at best.

That was a parting needle, not rhetoric -as was the crack about the lawyers in the first post. But I do tune out when clever style is passed off as content. Clever style will cure no illness nor invent a thing. Its just another way to spread the BS.

I saw a stand up comedian once who observed that Einstein was aided by his German accent. We would not have paid attention to him if he had spoken like an appalacian redneck and said something like, "Well ya see iffn yall go up to close as possible to the speed of light, yore grand pappys watch that yall brought wich ya would be tickin along just fine, then when yall made it back to Possum Holler and looked at your cousin Enis's watch, they'd be different time a-showin' of the faces, cause dependin on how yall look at it, time speeds up or slows down on account of how fast your car is.

Yea and all those equations did nothing eh? It was the accent! :)
redneck, cajun whatever, -the proof is here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Einstein_field_equations not in the accent.
And I know its just a comedian's joke. But another opportunity to illustrate substance over style.
Ill give you a few minutes to review those, then we'll discuss them...

The only thing missing on that trip is the 3 major news anchors carrying Boom Boxes behind Obama.

Enh? I'd rather the guy represented 'We the People of these United States'. The resta freakin planet's nation-states has it's own political monkey on it's back. How about we focus on what's right for America... amongst ourselves. Enuff playing to the world stage and pandering to the planet at large.... he's (supposed to be) running for President of the US... not Berlin.

He only wishes that more americans would take foreign language classes. He's using spanish as just an example.

Oh, God no. Those equations weren't a visual aid. Those equations were the foundation of his relativity theory. The equations didn't make sense until he thought of space as a fabric with "wrinkles." The theory of relativity came about because of those equations.
I don't pretend to understand them but have seen enough documentaries showing that the relativity theory came about because the graviton wasn't working out well in the equations - thus space had to change shape.
Again substance over style.

Oooh. And here I was thinking that he was pandering to the Latino vote to help get himself elected to King of the World. Maybe Im just getting jaded about Politics ,having been continuously lied to for 50 years.

Its already happening in the schools of more then a few states.
Exactly how is Obama responsible for that?
-
latest obama prepared sound bite, "we are the change we have been waiting for".
Actually if you were trying to be critical. You should have chosen a different one.
That one actually makes sense.
But then again I dont know the contet in which he made that statement.
But in and of itself. I would have to agree no matter who said it.
"We are the change we have been waiting for"

sorry, i misquoted, they are, "we are the ones we have been waiting for" and "we are the change we have been seeking", they mean nothing, slogan politics.
there is no context, as i said they are prepared sound bytes. The double use of "we" seems confusing.

obama in Berlin, "i am a beginner"

Yeah, we should throw more money at the problem. It's worked SO well for us so far.
The data show that spending on instruction accounted for over 70 percent of the total growth in spending since 1960. Current account expenditures rose from a nationwide average of $1,700 per pupil in 1960 to $5,193 in 1990, which represents an average growth rate of 3.8 percent per year over inflation.
This while the nation's youth leave high school with less and less capability in the three R's.

That 24 would buy into the imbecilic koolaid obama spews every chance he gets (like 99% of every other Obama groupie) is one thing... That 24 doesn't realize Obama's only spewing it to please the crowds and because the Illinois political machine told him to, and that he's sporting the "patriotic" avatar and trolling like a good Obama puppet, at the same time.. That's funny.
How shallow and absurd for him to "denounce" bigots, when he's going off the bigot chart himself at 14yo or so, parroting Obama's mantra like it was anything more than joe sixpack bait.

My avatar says it all. I could be one of the most American people on here. Why are we even having this discussion when Obama was awarded the presidency a few weeks ago? For example, John McCain went somewhere last week (I have no idea where he went) and the media didn't cover it. This week, on the other hand, Obama went to the middle east and was followed by many of the news stations. ABC News spent most of this week broadcasting from the Middle East. The media has already decided this race, so why fight it? The media knows what this country wants and needs.

My 5 year old brother could come up with a better troll.

Crud. Was all set to vote for McCain. This presents a new wrinkle.
You working for Obama?
-
So....you are trying to say that politicians lie to us? :uhoh
All kidding aside, I know what you mean.....sad really.
I know this guy better then most cause he came up in my state and my city.
And he kissed the most corrupt Political rings in the country to do so. He constantly reinvented himself, was always hand in hand with shady characters, and belonged to a racist church for the sole purpose of advancing his career by solidifying his voting base.
He will be the most anti-gun President we ever had. His upbringing is almost a complete mystery. His experience level is probably the smallest of any leader ever to run for the office and he's such a flip-flopper a picture emerges of a guy so starving for power who will say, and do, anything to get it.
A man like Colin Powell I could trust in that seat. But something about this guy just bothers me. And the fact the media has gone on a crusade to get him elected just frightens me.
-
The media knows what this country wants and needs.
I have no idea if that's sarcasm or not, but that sentence made a massive vein jump out on my forehead.
-
Fret not Indy. There probably are a few Charles Foster Kanes out there. The rest are working stiffs who are trying to get as much dough as fast as they can until the supply runs out. Some, granted, are very rich working stiffs certainly.
The media laugh all the way to the bank every day. The manufacture news. What a lark!
