to show wind direction at the fields. Nothing fancy, just a pole, maybe atop the tower, with an orange windsock on it. We could take a look when we enter the pattern to see which way the wind is blowing (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

put a windsock just ahead of each refueling/rearming point on the runways.
realistic place for it

yup but a big windsock cause are you able to see it from 1-2K ?

Asked HT about a wind speed directional indicator, suggested a windsock...he said he's thinking about putting it on the clip board.

I think a wind sock wuld be a very nice touch to see from the tower.
As for the wind direction on the knee pad? I'm not crazy about that idea. You should be able to get the "weather" info from the tower before flight and keep it in mind when you fly.
Being on the clipboard and readily available 100% of the time runs along the same lines as the super accurate phased array radar we have now. Neither is very realistic.
Just my .02....
