I think it's high time that HTC got with the program and offered a spanish version of the game... And no, I don't just mean the sounds--although an HTC generated Spanish soundpack would be appropriate.
AH2 Spanish, as I'm tentatively calling this project, must translate all written text into the language, including all text within the airplane cockpits, in the base, etc...
We cannot ignore the changing needs of the computer-literate marketplace. It is simply offensive and irresponsible to assume that English remains the only language necessary for our lives in the virtual world of AH.
Please make this addition soon, and don't think that this is the end, either. AH Ebonics isn't something you can just pretend doesn't matter.
We're all in this together.
Be vigilant.

Spell check! it Espanol :aok

I'll start contributing by translating (Google translator) your post to Spanish:
Estar atentos.

Why just Spanish? What about all the Finns that play this game - oh wait, they actually bother to learn English. Hooray for Finland.

To answer this, I'll just quote the master, Andrew "Dice" Clay: If you don't speak the language, Get the BOINK out of the country!
If HTC did something this stupid, I'd save $15/mo. I mean, what did mexico contribute to WW2? Maybe 1 P-47 Squadron?

I know how HTC can fix the real quick. MAKE THEM LEARN ENGLISH!

The majority of the foriegners in this game know english or are learning through this game partially, I learn new words all the time and english is my 3rd language so it helps, look at the finns and even gianlupo who can almost speak a full sentence in english now :devil
-
Sadly, most of the "foreigners", can type superior English (more often that not their 2nd Language) than most who learn learn English as their primary.

OMG This thread cannot last for long.
For some strange reason I don't think I'll be able to open the clipboard now without hearing the Map song in my head.

It funny how no one can take a joke now :rofl

err pxdig, HT doesn't provide us with the skins, the members of the community do it.
If you wish to have one for the 201 then make one and submit it with any relevant historical data . All skins submitted for use in the Main arenas must be historically accurate.

Why? Should we also translate all of our street signs into Spanish just for them...?

Yes, Yes, I know this is a rant, but darn it I never get to say my peace and this has been bothering me for a while... :furious
It seems every time Mexico is mentioned there is always a series of insults/degrading comments made. I am wondering why that is. The 201 Squadron or the "Aztec Eagles" as they were called, fought and died providing air support for OUR guys on the Ground.
In total, the 201 flew 96 missions, with 785 Offensive sorties, they dropped over 950 1,000lb bombs on the Japanese in the Philippines and Formosa as well as 500, 500lb bombs, and they pumped over 166,000 rounds of ammunition into the enemy. Of the 31 Mexican pilots, 5 did not return home No air victories were recorded because the japs had no air cover in that part of the Pacific. It should be noted that it is against the Mexican constitution to send soldiers to die on foreign battlegrounds, this is the one and only time Mexico has done it, and it was done to support us.
The Mexican ground support soldiers engaged Japanese soldiers consistantly, inflicting losses and taking enemy prisoners. At the end of the war, the 201 was credited by the US Army for having killed or taking out of action over 30,000 Japanese troops. :salute. That is 30,000 more japs that our guys would have had to deal with if not for these veterans.
Additionally, all of Mexico went on extreme rationing to give US raw materials and oil, confiscated several German tankers and supply vessels, and basically gave the U.S. all the support it could give. I dont think I need to tell anyone here how important raw materials were in WWII.
At wars end General Douglas MacArthur said of the 201 “I have watched over its combat activities with growing pride and admiration, and for that reason upon leaving (the Phillipines) I have said goodbye to them with sadness and affection.”
But these Mexican veterans of WWII don’t receive the respect given to all other allied, and even axis countries. Instead they get “border patrol” jokes. Heck, AH2, for as many skins as we have wont even provide one for the 201.
I wonder if the American Soldiers under the wings of the mexican flown P47, would have wished them back in mexico ;)
And yes I plan to repost this on the mexican jug thread....
and no disrespect to thoese mexicans that flew...
But try this go to mexico and tell them that you don't understand their language and you want them to speak english...see what that gets ya.

You really should try to leave your own back yard before offering opinions of which you really are not qualified to discuss, see the picture below
(http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p185/pxdig/AH2puertopenasco.jpg)
This picture was taken about a year ago when I was riding my bike with friends in Puerto Penasco Mexico. Yes, that is a sign in MEXICO in ENGLISH. so much for your silly point.
I can also tell you there were at least a hundred RVs, most of which were flying NASCAR, confederate, and American Flags. I can also tell you no Mexican had the knee jerk, "love it or leave" , tear it down, they are taking over, OMG we are loosing our country !!! reaction we have here.
But this will only surprise you if you have never traveled or otherwise had an opportunity to expand you limited horizons. As a member of the US Armed Forces, I traveled to Thailand, Phillipines, Malaysia, Japan, Korea, and ROC. All of which had signs in english seemingly all over the place as well as special "tourist" police to help out any foreigners. This includes Mexico. Of course you wouldn't know about this, since you probably never left west virginia, or a similar place. Even Saddam Hussein had the demonimation of his money in ENGLISH.

I just find it shameful that we as the most powerful, richest country in the would cannot accomodate our neighbor and second largest trading partner, but the entire world at least tries to help and accomodate others.
-
But tell me why we should make a game for Mexicans.
-
Not for "Mexicans", ggeezzzz, you have to be from the backwoods,
A spanish pack (language) should be available for;
mexicans
Peruvians
Costa Ricans
Puerto Ricans (US Citizens)
Panamanians
Columbians
Venezuelans
Argentinians
Better yet, let me just say that it should be available for the entire Western Hemisphere. With the exception of the Brazil, U.S. and Canada. Of course also Spain.
now you are going to make an ignorant remark about how they only have tacos and not the internet or some crap like that, so, please dont and just let it go. I am realizing that I cannot educate everyone with a small mind and narrow horizons.
-
I do believe that the planes that were given to allied country's from us had all english controls/labels and such.
-
AKdogg, I agree with you. This recreational video game should offer no type of accomodation to the rest of the hemisphere because 66 years ago we gave allied countires planes with english labels. You sir, have defeated me.

Made in USA :salute
Played on Japanese computers
with Flight controllers made in China
With speakers assembled in Korea
next to a printer assembled in Mexico
Enjoyed by cyber pilots all over the world.
AH2 a game based on a world struggle where the entire world banded TOGETHER to act as ONE to aid EACH OTHER in order to defeat tyranny. Amazing how the greatest generation helped other countires unconditionally, (lend lease, Marshall Plan) because they knew we dont live in a vaccum and things that occurr "over there" will affect us.
This will be my final post on this subject, since the only thing left is for someone to throw out the usual last argument of the near sighted, "AMERICAN FING LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT". As if that was the point from the very begining.
See you in the cyber sky......

OTOH English is the internationally recognised language for communication in aviation :aok
Try saying THAT 10 times fast :O

Just wait until the AH2 coding will be outsourced to india.

That's not an easy one, as few translators can grasp all the details.
Did you know that there are 23 different words for "vulch" in Snail, depending on what kind of vulch it was? (Enemy's engine running, enemy moving but not airborne, vulche was witnessed, vulch with rockets, etc). Same for "pick", whereas running and extending are the same in that language.

I believe that the lack of spanish in this game is evidence of the ongoing anti-mexican/anti-latin attitude in this country, and it needs to stop.
We are all created equal, in this together, part of the same flock, part of the same society.
[sarcasm overdrive] not only should AH make this game in spanish, but they should make the option for English NOT be the default... IN other words, the game should be set to spanish when it loads, and then you must select numeral 1 to activate English... [/sarcasm overdrive]
I'm glad you guys took this thread so seriously, and even bothered to paste a 'made in the USA' logo, but come on guys...

Well put and completely accurate... I think that the Spanish version should take priority, though, lest the Spanish-speaking American populace get offended.
Call it a burrito, call it a crepe, call it Moo Shi... It's still just junk rolled into a pancake... And we're all into this together.
-
whats the point, it would cost ah a ton of money to create a new game for people that aren't known for liking these sort of games anyway. plus while ah is creating a latino version they could be improving the engish one

Wow you found an sign in English in mexico... that doesn't prove anything. If you had a country where your nations second greatest source of income is from an English speaking country you would put your signs in English as well. They want to let your and your hombre know where to spend your American curency. I don't see Texas on your list of travels, I live there and every other sign I see is in spanish. You really like mexico huh? You and your boyfriend must of had a good time.
