Where can I get the 411 on this? My kids are wanting to play but I'm not ready to pay for another account until they learn the game. I have a 3 computer network setup, so my question is: can I download the game on the other two computers and play against the kids for free? :salute

I thought I read you can still do LAN games. They only show up on your local network though. See if it's an option on your copy, and then install on the other computers.

Playing 8 player mode in local LAN is no problem. I often use it for practice or testing stuff.

Wow! that was quick..thanks. Yeah I have the LAN option on my copy too. I'll download the game on the other 2 computers and see what happens.

Should be a hoot for your kids. My boys like playing those. Plus they are allowed to use the radio [*squeeeeek!*] when they're on that. They dig it! :aok

LilDragn uses it all the time when friends come over, cuz they ain't using my log in to play live, stupid newbs.
Have to agree with The Snail, great for training, but there a lot of things that are a little different.
The first player will set up and pick the arena and will be "hoster", once that is set up the other players pick the same arena and join in.

Make sure all of the computers are using the same version. There is no notification of new versions, and no autoupdater for the LAN activity, so if your main computer gets an update it might have problems thereafter, when flying against the others on the LAN.
On the other hand, with LAN-only play, you don't need to update the software at all... You can use old versions (even AH1) if its a better fit for your hardware. If your kids are using old computers, they'll probably find an all AH1 setup to be better.

you can also put unlimted ammo and a .oo1 fuel burn rate, collisions on/off ,day/nite time should be great for the kids go to arena settings>enviroment lots of options the host can set up plus there is all those player made maps... crudah has made a bunch of great 1's :salute had some hope HTC would bring it back for us paying players

yea, but then people would get out of the MA's and only do that for 2 months or till bored. IMO, it should be like 1 or 2 64 player Arenas that are fight to the deaths! :D ;)

And yet somehow, before 8 player was banned, we all survived.
