200 questions. Fuhgedaboutit. :huh
-
An otaku is just someone with a deep fascination to an obsession about something. For example, a densha otaku is some one fascinated by trains. They know all the model numbers, colors, maybe routes and all the station names. They make model trains and take photos and videos of trains and maybe have a website or visit one.
Many Aces High players would qualify as hikouki (airplane), or ge-mu (video game), or sensou (war) otaku.

I heard that the guy that killed 17 people at Akihabara was an otaku :noid
-
Seven people were killed, not 17. Three by being hit by the truck he was driving, four by stabbing. All were stabbed within 30 seconds and were assisting the truck victims.
I don't understand your point. Otaku are killers?
-
arrrg I got the final tally wrong
He's got to be the military type

You posted earlier that an otaku is someone that's deeply obsessed with [ insert any hobby here ]. Getting too obsessed can be unhealthy, counterproductive. The slasher may have been military and/or fantasy/MMORPG-type.
-
He may also have been your common or garden nutcase, or your standard loser.
Some of the folks he killed may have been too. I used to see all kinds of vaguely kiddie pr () n-omatic-like rpg programs in Akihabara. Last time I was there, I saw a 7-floor (count 'em, 7) building apparently dedicated entirely to underwear and Sailor Moon costumes.
*sigh* Just sad.
