Title: comparative combat evaluation
Post by: Mojava on July 25, 2008, 10:11:03 AM
Here is the comparative combat evaluation of the FW190 A-5  vs F4U1-D and the F6F-3. I found this on another forum, thank you to whomever provided the original post    http://home.comcast.net/~markw4/index1.html (http://home.comcast.net/~markw4/index1.html)

"No maneuver could be done in the 190 that could not be followed by both the Corsair and the Hellcat"

That's going to get things going, but basically the description is AH'ish,,,

what jumps out at me is that it says the  Corsair could match the 190s roll rate and could out accelerate it..

Here's a more original report, in this report it's an A-4:

Please remember this was not a standard Fw 190 fighter but a fighter bomber conversion but loaded back to feighter weight. It still featured the external air intakes and probably had an engine/prop setup tuned to carry bombs instead of speed. Also the engine had problems
