Title: HT, make us walk

Just put tents near the end of the runaways. Once you choose a plane and runaway position, your plane is placed ready to take off, but you are possitioned at the nearest tent. You must walk towards your plane and press fire once you are near the cockpit, then you'll be into the plane. Both, the plane and the pilot have the name of the player in the icon, and ther player can only use the plane with his name.

Planes should be placed in a predefined pattern, up to four at once per runaway end.

The tents (indestructible object) should be placed at some distance to force the pilots to walk for 5 or 6 seconds to get their planes.

Both, pilots and planes can be straffed and killed. If a plane is destroyed before the pilot gets control of it, the pilot is awarded with a "bail out" and return automatically to the tower. If the pilot is killed, his plane is retired from the runaway  and the enemy is awarded with a "chute kill" (should be changed to "personel kill").

The only way to get directly into the aircraft should be selecting hangar as starting point.

You could be straffed there too... think you could take this RL thing a bit too far for a game.

That would be a good way to end with the dweeby P38s and B26s killing troops as they spawn. That would end too the dweeby suicidal bomb drop on the runway, because before you reach the plane U'r toasted  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Anyway I wont like having to walk. Maybe a delay of 10 seconds since you enter the cockpit and you get the true control of the plane would be enough in that regard  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

The idea is to have the pilots exposed to enemy fire for 5 or 6 secs, and to have some "unmaned", parked and aligned planes on the runaway waiting for their pilots. Even better , instead having those planes waiting in the runaway, put them aligned at one side of the runaway, on the grass, each one with the name of its pilot.

Almost forgot, while the pilot is out his aircraft, he can't read/write any radio messages.

Ok this may seem to be a realism fixation that would prove to be a bore.  And it prolly would get very old. However I like some aspects of it, one it gives you the mad scramble scene from RAF movies (though lots of times they did get a ride to theplanes hmm). Two it woul actually let you see your nose art on your plane and see others on theirs!  Heck you could have an airshow. But the third idea that I like deals with planes on the ground.  Not players, but static terrain planes. Face it airfields have planes on them, and they were the popular bombing and strafing target if gun film is a judge.  So why are our airfields so barren, barringthe occasional FP shading himself alongside a tower or hangar?  Do this, have three to four planes parked on each field, as soft as the plane, and repairs in say five minutes? Ten? fifteen? no more than that.  They spawn all as one type of plane, random type. I would suggest to make it interesting the pool of types be chosen from perks and near perks, say F4u, N1k, Lanc, Goon, and all perks (Ports can have a PT and all GV selection).  If they are all destroyed then that type is not flyable from that field (until the next plane spawns, which would thenbe a random type again).  This would add a little fun some funner strafing films and more points to gather out of a field.  And it would give us lamers the chance to do a walk around with a Tempest!

Just make the GUI trek from the tower to the plane mandatory. And optional for the rest.

This sort of thing would become incredibly tedious i think.We need gameplay features that wouldnt become tiresome with repitition.

Hazed, this only imply the "loose" of 5 seconds before you control your plane. Cant qualify it as "incredibly tedious". And It could add much more fun for attackers while straffing enemy pilots in their run to their planes.
