Title: Squelch Feature in the Forums and Perma squelch
Post by: angelsandair on July 28, 2008, 04:38:49 PM
Okay, I'm tired of seeing SlipKnots stupid wishes spamming up the boards over what could be good stuff and useful information.  :furious

Need Squelch feature and Perma Squelch Feature!!

Exact reason why it should be added.

Well if I could squelch "He who should not post" I wouldn't worry about him on this thread :)

I couldn't share your sentiments more - and there is even a mod for SMF that will (supposedly) implement a user ignore feature. Without it, what was once a refuge from the refuse of the general board has become a mockery of what it once was,

What we need is a hero.... (Skuzzy, where are you!?)

Totally agree, I'd be much happier knowing I'd never waste time reading anything he has written ever again.

I think slipknot's posts are funny and entertaining then again us Brits are easily amused.

He does make me laugh.  I'd rather read his than some of the whines, dead horses and repeat offender wishlists.

Perfect!  If we got an ignore feature, then everyone could be happy!

Totally agree.:aok  Slipknot's not just another squeeker posting pre-pubescent dribble. His stuff is completely off the wall and hilarious. I think the real problem is that some people actually think he's serious.:huh

It's not that I think he's serious, it's just stupid now. It was funny the first couple of threads, now it's just getting old.

Seconded.  If I'm in a mood to read drivel (nothing wrong with that, sometimes, that's what your in the mood for), I go to the O'Club.  I'm starting to feel as though this is the Mini-O, and it's sad.  If I want to be entertained, there's other venues that are much more appropriate.

lol I actually think his last thread was the best, comparing aces high to pimp my ride. I don't know where he get's his ideas from, but one thing is a constant. Every time I read one of his theads, I burst out laughing. Why would you deprive me of that?
My suggestion is, get a sense of humour or if you don't want that, then simply ignore his threads.
Keep them coming slipknot

Aren't you violating rule 6?

Oh crap, I'm violating rule 6.  :(

Saantana, I'm not asking to deprive YOU of that.

However I really don't care to read his drivel any more.
So I am asking for a way to deprive ME of that.

Wouldn't effect you at all.

Well, from that perspective I see your point. His insanity really does belong in the O' Club. :salute

Im not against forum squelch, but nobody force you to read his threads and posts, you know?

afaik, even if you put somebody in ignore list you will see his threads with subject (but no message body) and his quoted posts by other members.

Oleg, the previous ignore feature we had completely removed any posts or topics generated by the ignored user.

You're right. If this thread goes down the tubes, I'm gonna bump it once a week or until he's banned. Like I said before, it was funny at first, but now, it's stupid.

(dont get me wrong, not as stupid as Stephen Waldren who thought that Germans attacked Pearl Harbor with Helicopters...)

I don't see many posts in here that have much more merit than Slipknot's.

That said, if HTC would implement a perma-squelch feature both in-game and on these forums, Skuzzy would probably get better rates on his health and life insurance.

As little as Skuzzy looks at the wishlist forum (look at all the threads that need to be locked in the last 10 pages, theres only like 1...) hopefully, he stumbles on this and puts it in.

As I said another day, all Slipnot is doing is spaming the wishlist forum.  He responds to every response to his nonsensical posts to keep them at the top of the forum (or at least on the front page) and sometimes starts several in one day.  There was a day a week or so ago that 25% of the first page threads were his which just drops legitimate ideas off the front page.

If he toned it down to a thread a week I might find him amusing too.  As it is he's just annoying.

Welp, ignore is a feature thats easily implemented. And , from the administrators side being an admin in a number of places, it saves a ton on reported posts, whiny PM's, flamewars ect ect ect . Personally I cannot even see setting up a forum without it. It offers an option for folks to use to be able to read through thread and not read posts from posters they find repeatedly offensive, baiting, or downright stupid. It makes for a much more enjoyable forum experience. There are those in every forum (this one included) that "ride the edge" of having the admin smack put upon them like its some sort of joke. And they laugh about getting away with it. Usually in that they dont have much to offer to any conversation. Those are the ones that could use to be ignored.

Here again, its not thrust upon anyone. Its up to the user as an option to use it or not. If you don't like it, don't use it.

Again, Why do you find it annoying? Nothing on here is utterly brilliant to the point where it can't be shoved aside for a minute to read slipknot's posts for a bit of a laugh.

I've got nothing against Slipknot Dave. Maybe I came off that way i my first post, but didn't mean to.Some of his posts are funny.

Just pointing out the positives of having the option is all.

Not addressing you in particular blkmgc, just looking for a general answer from everyone who thinks he's annoying.

It isn't funny anymore Davey, it's getting to the point of being stupid. Why are you against the permasquelch feature? If he's squelched, I can not see his posts, be unannoyed and happy, and you can be entertained by his wishes. I'm not asking for a PNG, but I do wish he'd bring it to the O'club.

Why would he make wishes in the O'Club? That's plain silly.

Stupid/funny stuff thrives in the O'Club, it's his natural Habitat. :) :P

But WHY would you need a permasquelch feature when you can simply IGNORE his posts when you see them in the wishlist thread? Thats the best permasquelch feature right there, no begging Skuzzy for it.

because I'm tired of seeing worthful wishes in the forums get pushed to the bottom. He replies to every post just to make sure it's on the top or close. A while ago, there were about 4 or 5 in about 1 or 2 days.

Exageration........  He does not reply to every post, or even close, and if you really didn't want his topics up at the top of the page, not posting in them would be a great start :aok

Considering how much rubbish has been posted in here since long before Slipknot showed up, I always figured if there was something I really thought was a good idea, my best bet would be to show up to a Con and pitch the idea to HiTech in person.

Oleg, the previous ignore feature we had completely removed any posts or topics generated by the ignored user.

Thanks for correction, thought its same in most forums.

Did I said already I have nothing against ignore list? Personally, I never need it but once (he was really stupid, annoing and blatant guy; not in this forum), but if others want it I dont mind. I just said you dont need to read all that stupid stuff. Anyway, there are virtually nothing worth reading in Wishlist nowadays.
