It should be possible to bail-out of an AFV in the same way you can bail-out of a plane (except without the parachute obviously).
Opening a hatch and stepping out or simply standing up and getting out in the case of a jeep shouldn't be impossible. It's particularly irritating to have to blow up and die on your own territory just because you're tracked or turreted - successful bail should be an option.

Hi Ian,
Yes, the person who did the most damage (assuming they were still alive and in flight) or the closest enemy would still get the kill as per planes, and on enemy territory you'd be captured. In essence though you are abandoning your disabled vehicle so they should get the credit for putting you out of action.
There are only three advantages to this:
1) It better reflects reality. Tank Crews rarely elected to blow themselves up when they lost a track and couldn't repair it - especially on their own bases.
2) You score higher and keep more perks for bailing than being killed. For those saving up for their next Tiger, this comes in handy.
3) It enables you to run around with your .45 which can be bags of fun especially at the spawn point on the runways.
For me, item one is the overriding concern.

Give me a mp44, tommy gun, or a lee-enfield, some statchels, m2 Frags, Panzerfaust-60's and artillary support, and I'm all in :]

Did we not once upon a time have this ability to bail from GV's?

Dunno. I can't remember it, but it's possible. We definitely don't have it now.
