Oil prices are global and nothing America did had much of an effect. Markets always wander toward fringes then retreat. It was expected.
-
Yeah but our dear government who only has your best interests in mind wants to raise taxes since they are getting less revenue because we cut back. :rofl :rofl
-
Dont get too excited too fast.. The price of crude was up almost $5 per barrel today.. :uhoh
-
What was that? Did I just hear the sky falling?
-
People are so funny...they b1tch and complain about gas...buy hybrids...don't drive as much...but as soon as it goes down they're back to buying gas-guzzling SUVs and driving 2 minutes to work.
-
Labor day is coming....price will go up soon....
Thanksgiving after that.....xmas after that.....
then back down a bit....then spring break....memorial day....4th of july.....
Same ole cycle....

You can thank the Christian movement for lower gas prices. (Rolling Eyes here)

2 weeks.

All the speculators are cashing out before their options expire at the end of the month.

Cap, Indirectly we have made a difference.I have a good friend that sells high end bikes.
the are selling them like crazy. They have electric assist, good for 20 miles.Motor cycle and scooters
are selling like hotcakes. Folks are buying lots of small gas efficient cars and dumping their big
trucks and SUVS. people are parking their boats or if the do go out they sit in a cove instead
of driving all over the lake.
These are just a few things that have made the demand go down in America. Its making a difference!!

Keep telling yourself that if it helps you sleep at night.
It's just the lull before the Labor day weekend.

So what you are saying is the U.S is not using less fuel???
Remember 3 or 4 years ago when all you saw on the road were big SUVS and full size trucks?
Now look out the window and see how many are out there now. Not many. that variable alone
cut fuel consumption way down.

What I'm saying is that t is the American way.
Buy more fuel efficient cars, but drive them more often or farther.
Just like we buy "reduced fat" junk food, but eat twice as much.
Ever buy a new motorcycle? Fun, wasn't it? How many extra hours did you drive it that SAME day? How many extra people did you go visit to show it off? Just a general example and not a personal attack at you, Kaw.

i think gasoline use in US is 4% less than last year.

If I bought a new mustang, I would do the same thing. But how much gas would it take compared to the motorcycle? I might be able to show off on the bike on only one tank, but the mustang could take a fill up or two. The point still stands, after that first week or so you would go about your normal business and the bike would make a difference.

My conclusions only come from the behavior I witness.
Another example: Today at the grocery store I was in line at the bakery getting a cake for a co-worker's birthday.
The lady in front of me was holding up the line for 10 minutes trying to find a no-sugar/no-carb/no-fat cake because she was on a diet. Did I mention that she was about 400lbs? I wanted to grab her by the head, look her directly in the eye and say "How about just plain ole' leaving the sweet cake at the bakery? You might get better, faster results that way. Stop shoveling groceries down your neck and the weight might come off."
or the guy who idles/cruises in the parking lot for 10 minutes while trying to find a parking spot 2-3 spots closer than he could park right now?
Never underestimate the stupidity of some folks. SUV's may not be selling as much right now but the manufacturer's are handing out gas at $2.99/gal for a year after purchase, as an incentive. It costs less, so to most people, it justifies using more.
