Title: Fishing in Yellowstone/Grand Tetons?
Post by: rogwar on July 31, 2008, 03:36:20 PM
May take the family for two weeks next June. Might have some time to do some fishing but was just interested in messing around a little with a spinning reel. Fly fishing would be nice to learn but I've got enough fishing vices as it is...lol. Any ideas or recommendations?

I understand the park is all catch and release. Outside? Would be nice to catch a few and cook them while staying outside. We will be driving my truck from DFW and renting a trailer locally so we can move around a bit. Will be making Yellowstone reservations for next year soon as well.

Also, any must see/to do things in the Grand Teton's

Thanks!

Hit Jackson Hole. Keep your eyes open. Many celebrities visit you may spot one or two. Very pricey to shop but fun to browse.

Dine at the Moose Ski Lodge (it's in Moose WY). Excellent food!

Cody WY isn't far. Excellent museum there.

I could be wrong but I think the park is also restricted to fly fishing only as well. I didn't do any fishing outside the park but there are the park Rangers and guide businesses that could answer the questions you have.

It appears like I could use my crappie rods.

Almost need to have the regs reviewed by an attorney in advance. :D

lol... fishing there is great.  I caught a beautiful cutthroat trout on the Yellowstone river using a bass plug surface lure....

Get past the regs...it is soooo worth it.  As far as cook'n your catch, i can't really comment... we were doing catch and release so I can't comment... good luck and have a blast.

That may be the most beautiful part of the world  :aok
