How many of you guys have heard of this organization? I was thinking about joining it to get myself and my oldest son into some shooting competitions around the state and possibly go on to some national competitions.
-
I have thought about enrolling my kids' in it also, Reshke. I've yet to do it though, because they're football programs' have consumed so much time lately.
-
It's an old organization that has been around and does great things to promote safe shootng competition. They also help out with purchasing surplus military weapons like the M1 Garand and Carbine. Good group, you should have a great time.
-
I considered joining and helping some local kids with marksmanship but there were no local clubs that were supported. Then Springfield came out with the new manufacture Garand and I found some used Anschutz cheap and I went ahead without them.
-
Outstanding bunch. :aok

I belong to a CMP registered shooting club.

I have.
Used to shoot an M1A in National Match competition.
At 600 yards the 7.62 rules!
-
Well there are a few clubs around me and the southern region HQ is only about an hour away over in Anniston, AL and they have several of the Garands over there as well on auction. I am thinking about trying to pick up one or two real soon and start some good old fashioned shooting down on the farm.

It doesn't do badly at 1000 either!

Not with a large bullet fired from a National Match, well scoped, with bedded action and unitized gas system and 4.5 lb trigger. :D
-
I joined the cmp for my jrotc marksmenship team for outside competitions.
-
That's how the NRA started...
-
My knowledge is a little spotty about this, but didn't the federal government sponsor marksmanship competition for youngsters at one time, until it became politically incorrect to do so, and the program was dissolved?
-
It's great.

If I am not mistaken this is still somehow part of the government with their "sanctioning" or something like that.
-
Unless I'm mistaken, the ODCMP is headquartered out of Camp Perry, an Ohio National Guard base.
As far as government involvement? They have only so far released lend-lease garands, 1903's and carbines
into the program. Though Bill Clinton intentionally had many lend lease M14's ground up and destroyed even though he knew of the CMP's existence.

Doesn't that just suck monkey nuts....but then leave it to Bill to start the destruction of our military/industrial complex and the grand Illuminati scheme to rule the world.
