Ok well this is a spitfire picture i put together and I am going to find a place to host it....in a file type known as .psd so you guys can see how many layers what each layer does to the image and so on.....

I will edit with a download link.

Ah, ok, it's Photoshop's version of .xcf. Never knew you could save it as that in GIMP. That'll streamline some things for me.

Looks like, among the other things you did (the low opacity colored rectangles are interesting, never thought of that before), as far as the spitfire goes you more or less cut it out of the picture, made lots of copies with different filters and stacked them on top of each other? Or is there something I'm not seeing here?
As far as filters go, what is the filter you used on 'blade.bmp copy #7', among other layers?

I'm also curious as to what's going on with 'background' and 'new layer #1'.

Weazley, I doubt you are AH2's best photoshopper.

I think we should have some kind of contest with each participant submitting a photo
and then voting.

Weazley, I doubt you are AH2's best photoshopper.

Great....only other good person I can think of is biggles and he used il2 graphics with a real landscape backround...not saying its not good just its the only thing he did and I can do a range of things from scratch, and many other styles that I havnt seen any Ah'er come close to doing. Have a good day.

I can do skins as well as standard (albeit basic) photoshop skills, talking about doing things from scratch.

Post by: weazely on August 09, 2008, 10:18:11 PM
EDIT: you know what.....i dont think that makes me look like the best AH2 photoshopper....GIVE me 2 days and you guys will be AMAZED!

EDIT2....and i know skinning is done in photo shop...but it isnt 'art' and doesnt take artistic ability just the time to sit and follow a 'model' if you will.

You are very much mistaken im your impression of skinning. :aok
Title: Re: New spitfire picture. (GIMP users look)
Post by: weazely on August 10, 2008, 08:16:47 PM
skinning in IMO....dont get too mad on this....but skinning you have something to follow, so you know what you have to do...with the art I do it is from scratch....and that takes more skill than just following a picture or diagram.  thats just my 2 cents on 'art' and being the best AH2 photo shopper.

ok, by your definition, half of film, three quarters of painting and sculpture, and all of music and photography is not art?! "Sorry Da Vinci, all you did was copy some lady's face."
TBH your idea of art is almost as juvenile as it is elitest.
Title: Re: New spitfire picture. (GIMP users look)
Post by: weazely on August 10, 2008, 11:09:21 PM
a little stuck up I see......

dont get to mad about how I think of my art work and how many others enjoy it....I dont think you fully get what I am saying.  All i am saying is I dont think that skinning is art in any way possible. All it is, is following a model to get the final product. I know there are many things within art that do that, I just dont think skinning is it.

have fun.

Holy crap... You put "Aces High's greatest photoshopper" in your sig, and I'm the stuck up one? Methinks you need to open your eyes a bit.
Perhaps you should try skinning as well. Protip; copying the profile is the easy part.

Perhaps I should upload a skin when I get home... I wonder if you've seen a 60 layer, 5500 color .xcf file before?

Oh, how I hate typing on my cellphone. :lol

have you ever seen a 400 layer vector art of a suit with cube head with a wires coming of it and then plugging into 2 speaker turning the image from a vector into a modern abstract. ;)

I can sit here and waste my time out doing your skins...(60 layers) or I can keep making my art....I choose art hope I didnt hurt your feelings.

Oh how I hate typing from my Ipod touch.
