OK we got a gun thread and a climate thread sooooo
hows about a KNIFE or edge weapons or cold steel thread?
Why?
Many don't realize just how deadly a bit of very sharp material can be...
Now in merry old you don't need to fear firearms so much ......
BUT
Well .... Heres a starter....

a) that article took it's stats from the Mirror, and that is one of the bottom newspapers in this country.
b) yes, knife crime is a problem here, but it's not a huge huge one.
c) I just googled those stats about 25,000 stabbed a year, it's actually (according to the Telegraph, a far better newspaper):
Allowing for forces that did not provide figures, the nationwide total is expected to be about 25,000. If Scotland and Northern Ireland attacks were included, it would be even higher.
The count includes only murders, stabbings where blood is spilt, and knife-point muggings. If less-serious crimes such as threats or illegal possession were included, the figures would be much higher.

I'm not trying to say this isn't a threat or a problem, it certainly is, however from what I've seen it isn't as major as people make it out to be. Granted, I do live in quite a nice area of London, and the school that I go to is far from the sort where you have this type of problem, so I can't really comment about those who live in more violent neighbourhoods.

actually the country is NOT important.......
the point is knives are just as lethal as firearms...
and BTW ...
do you have a favorite blade?

I have three.
One, a Kershaw Blackout.
Two, a Benchmade Griptillian 550.
Three, a Camillus (out of production) pilot survival knife.
On any given day, you'll find me with the first two. If I'm roughing it out somewhere (around 10 minutes from a main road, or philadelphia), I'll be carrying the third.

My two favorite Texas Legal conceal knives are these:
SOG Seal Pup:

Cold Steel Kobun:

Both are small enough to be carry legal, and despite that, they offer full sized knife performance. Both are also very good bargains for the quality.
