I think Andy Rooney was a gunner on bombers during WWII so your close but I think you missed the bigger picture.

I think Andy Rooney was a gunner on bombers during WWII so your close but I think you missed the bigger picture.

Yup, I've read his book.  Twice.  He really has a low opinion of Patton, much like Buck Compton does of Lew Nixon.

Thats it! I just read a few of his reports though. One of them claimed a B24 bombardier had difficulty with the doors and dropped the bombs on top of them to get them opened... but the B24s doors rotate open dont they? Maybe he confused his notes with a B17.
