In the beginning Favre screwed up by retiring too early and then unretiring.  The Packers management is responsible for all the crap going on now.

Apparently Favre is done, saw him leaving the Packers training camp on the news.

I dont see why he came back he beat all of Dan Marion's records. I dont really see the point of him coming back. I hope he breaks a leg (literally) in pre-season.

No he's back(again) thats what i seen anyways.

He could have retired at the top of his game with universal respect for the rest of his life. Now he will be remembered for this fiasco.

I disagree.

The last pass I saw him throw was to a Giants Defensive Back. If I were him I would be bitter as hell.

If I was Brett Favre I would ask to be traded. With all the QB situations around the league you could easily go to any of those teams and start. Instead he holds onto a dream of coming back to the Pack to win the big one, A dream that nearly came true last January.

He's a wash up he's just trying to stay in the spot light and make more money. He should of quit last year as well as he did. He's one of the NFL's biggest babies. If he dose not get what he wants he go's crying and stomping off to his layers demanding for a trade and crap like that. I really hope he gets hurt bad so he can regret coming back to have more money and fame and try to make him self look like " one of the best in NFL history"

That's a good one.  The Packers offered him 20 million to just go away but he wants to play.  So I dont think it's the money with him.

Even more with a $10million deal for the next two years for endorsing packers product. It may not be the money, but he just wants to prove that he can get what he wants no matter how many people he pisses off in the process.

I don't think it's that at all...he just wants to play.

Maybe it's not about the records.  And he knows the Packers don't want him, that's why he wants a trade.  He wants to play football, plain and simple.  He's known nothing but football his entire life, I don't blame him for wanting to squeak a few more years out of it.  As for tarnishing his legacy, who cares.  It's HIS legacy.  If his playing football for another year or two changes the way YOU look back at his career, no big deal.

I admire Brett.  Always have.  I used to have his rookie card when he was with Atlanta.

But this latest stunt is ridiculous.

If you saw him when they played at Chicago last year and when the Pack hosted the Giants in the NFC championship game, you could see in his face that he really didn't want to be there.  Uncomfortable would be not strong enough to describe how he looked, especially against the Giants.  Move on Brett, quite crying and retire in dignity...what little of it you have left.

i dont know i think he really wants to play, its called "for the love of the game"

also if i was the 2nd string QB i would be really happy!!!

WHY? do you know how much pressure Rogers has on him? the whole packers organization is riding on this guy. why not take brett back i mean at least he knows what hes doing. with Rogers he will make or brake it.

let him play hell if the packers dont want him he can come play for Atlanta!!!  :)

Ill say first I am getting really tired of seeing Brett Favre every time I turn on ESPN.  I just want to know if hes playing and where I could care less about the other details.  Thats my whine for this thread.....

If you have been playing football as long as Brett Favre, figure hes been playing for 25+ years including college, high school, and youth, its hard to walk away for anyone for any sport.  Look how hard it is for some of these baseball and basketball players to walk away after so many years of playing.  Hell look at how many times Michael Jordan retired, not like he needed the money with all the endorsements he had.

Michael Jordan was a special case but usually when you are done, you are done.  Its very hard to come back to a sport when you take more than a year off.

Just go to your local high school or college and talk to the seniors who may never play another game in their life of coordinated athletics.  They will be emotionally broken especially after their last game as a senior.

Its hard to walk away especially when you know you cant go back.

I understand why Brett Favre wants to come back as he wants to continue playing as his career is not over and he still has the will to continue playing.

I am just tired of the hype they have on ESPN.

Game Highlights: Brett Favre helped the Packers to score first as he connected on a 54 yard strike to Andre Rison on only their second scrimmage of the thirty-first Super Bowl game to give them a 7-0 lead. Two plays later they had an interception off of Drew Bledsoe which lead to a field goal and increased their lead to 10 with just over 6 minutes played in the first quarter.

The Patriots responded with 2 straight touchdowns on their next 2 possessions to give New England a 14-10 lead and setting a record for the most combined first quarter points in the championship game. 56 seconds into the 2nd quarter threw an 81 yard bomb to Antonio Freeman and Chris Jacke added 3 more points on a field goal for the Packers to take a 20-14 lead. Brett Favre then added a touchdown of his own, to extend the lead to 27-14 entering halftime.

Curtis Martin came back with a touchdown for NE in the second half, but Desmond Howard crushed any hope of a comeback with a 99 kick off return for a touchdown and ultimately a 35-21 Packers victory.

I agree.
I have been a Packer fan my entire life, and as sad as I was to see him do the retirement press conference, this somehow tarnishes it.  :(

That is correct. I was watching the NFL Network and they said Farve is talking to Tampa and a deal should be done today.

Originally, I was on the Packers side.  I didn’t think he would retire in the offseason, but he did.  I thought he had 1 year left in the tank.  I was there at the NFC championship game and I was quite depressed after that loss for at least 2 weeks.  So he retired and I moved on.  And I was optimistic about Rodgers, even though I was a nay-sayer before the Dallas-GB game in November.

Rumors circulated about Bus putting out feelers etc.  And I started to give merit to the fact that he is going to come back.  I wanted him to stay retired.  I had accepted him leaving the game, especially on the last pass he threw.  Walking out of the stadium that night you could have heard a pin drop.

I started out being on the side of the Packers mainly because I had accepted his retirement.  Then I progressed to a seeing both sides of the argument.  Finally, I wanted him back.  Why?  Because Sunday night I went to the Packer scrimmage at Lambeau.  If any of you watched it or saw highlights of it (I doubt it if you were outside of Wisconsin), you would have been seriously concerned.  Rodgers was horrible.  He scrambled straight back when rushed.  He under-threw passes and easily got flustered.  He went 7 of 20 against a mostly 2nd string defense and through a pick in triple coverage.  7 of 20 in a scrimmage?  What’s the regular season going to be like?  Brohm did almost as good as him for crying out loud.

And for the whining?  Yeah I can see you seeing it that way.  But I don’t see Brett or the Packers holding hourly press conferences on the issue.  The media has created this storm, the Packers are trying to do business.  As much as they are trying to keep this behind closed doors, sports reporters are itching for their big breaking news story.  The sports new market has become so saturated by over-reporting of this issue that it has turned the public against the Packers/Brett, not the media itself.

It’s clear that the Packers/Brett do not want the attention but the news agency are creating the storm.  So give credit to where credit is due.  I listened to the Van Pelt radio show yesterday and he said the comments “I’m officially sick of this story, just get it over with.”  Really?  You WORK for ESPN.  Your job is to report and broadcast sporting events.  You’ve created your own sickness.

But the media is pretty much reacting to demand.  I’m sure their polls and ratings warranted the supply of news and ‘Favre Watch’ that was created.  So when you complain of this story, remember who is reporting the news and who’s watching/listening to it.

It saddens me that he will play for another team, but we don’t hate Namath, Unitas, and Montana for doing the same.  The odds are that Favre this year will be pretty disappointing.  And the odds are that Rodgers season will be just as bad.

The local TV station in Milwaukee just had live coverage of Brett leaving his home in Green Bay to head to the Airport with a Police escort. So I guess you could say that the media coverage is getting a little our of hand.
