Newest thing in pedicures, let a fish (tiny carp) eat the dead skin off your feet for $50 for a 30 minute treatment. ($35 for 15 minutes) Apparently, as many as 5,000 people have had their feet cleaned by these fish so far. :O
-
and where do the fish eventually end up?
-
Nuts, a bucket of minnows will cost less than that at the live bait store.
:D
-
LOL. I was digging a pedicure thread... until Vulcan's post.
-
I can do that at one of the local lakes for free. And the Blue Gill would do a better job too.

True.....but will the minnows clean all the dead skin off your feet? :D
-
Yes actually they will :)
Ok worst case scenario a 3$ pail of minnows might take twice as long to do the same job.
I'd go with hanging them off the dock in a pond myself. Bluegills and other small fish come quick if you don't move.
Sitting on the dock taking in some rays 0$
Having small fish nibble the dead skin off your toes 0$
Getting back in touch with yourself and nature, Priceless.

Never knew that. Still learning new stuff after all these years. :D

The whole disturbing part about the carp is this: Do they get tossed back into a lake somewhere for us to catch & eat?
I don't necessarily want to know what those fish (any fish) were eating before they were on my plate.
-
Carp like catfish are bottom feeders. You really have no idea what they eat do you?
-
I bet you eat shrimp and you should know already what they eat! :D
-
I say decrease the servicing time & go south American. http://www.destination360.com/south-america/brazil/piranha.php
-
No, and no. There are just some things that should not be disclosed. The diet of the fish you eat is one of them.

If they got tossed back into a lake somewhere most would end up as food for other fish anyways.

Since these fish are imports & live in hot water not much chance of them Surviving in local waters. We will have to call Peta & the Labour relations board though because I am sure they will just work these fish to death.
-
So long as we don't see an upcoming Pixar movie about the little fishie workers camp that one brave carp works to free...
Can you imagine some of the conversations that those fish would have while chomping on... say... athletes foot?
-
Fish to other fish. MMMMM crunchy.

Oh gawd, please tell me nobody here actually eats carp.

I personally have never eaten carp, but I hear that if the fish is cleaned properly it is quite good.
-
I've eaten carp. It's not my first choice, but it was pretty good.
-
Carp exhist to clean up the degredaded waters so that edible fish can survive. Thats just nasty thinking of eating one of those things. You understand as soon as you start to gut one lol

To me that sounds a lot like saying "If a bum hole is cleaned properly it can be licked".

Did it taste like toejam?

There is a mudvein in the meat that has to be removed. Once it has been removed there is nothing wrong with the meat. People who have eaten properly cleaned carp say it is quite good.

Do a google search for Carp recipes. There are lots of recipes for that fish so I would have to assume that there are plenty of people who disagree with you two. :)

I'm sure a lot of people do eat carp. A lot of people also eat worms, grubs, guinnea pigs, and dogs. Do a google search for people who like to be deficated on and I bet you find just as many of those as you do carp recipes. I'm just saying I might choose to be pooped on before I'd eat carp. :D

Methinks the decision criteria might be a bit..... crappy.

You go right ahead and let someone poop on ya......I won't stand in your way at all. :D
Personally, given the choice, I'd at least try the carp. :P

You might be a redneck. If you bring your fishing pole to a pedicurist.

Some friends of ours had this done in Singapore while on honeymoon. Pretty horrible if you asked me, but they thought it was ok.
