Title: Archery Victory
Post by: ODBAL on August 08, 2008, 11:55:50 AM
Just wanted to share in the Joy.  My girlfriend and I attended a local archery shoot (3D targets) and in her first ever event she took first place in the Women's Freestyle Division!  Wooot!

Does she hunt with it (noticing the trophy)?

Nope, no hunting, that bow is Hoyt's inferno color so every deer on the mountain would see it a mile away (Shiny).  The trophies were made by my uncle for the shoot using shed's he finds.  Those were really cool trophies. The metal part is a belt buckle.

CONGRATS TO HER!   :salute

I also do 3D Target Archery when I have the time and there is a Shoot close by. I use a PSE CARROLL INTRUDER II with MONGOOSE Iron Sights.

Buddy on the Fire Dept got me into - dragged me to a Shoot and I took along my old Bear Hunting Bow - won 2rd place in my Divison first time out and I didn't have a CLUE what I was doing. Went and bought a bunch of equipment, practiced and practiced and never did as well ever since. LOL!   :P

P.S. - Tell the Girlfriend to loose the "Trigger" and shoot that bow like it was ment to be shot.   ;)

If she likes hunting and fishing, MARRY her. Nothing better in a pretty woman than one who likes to hunt and fish with a guy. :O

i never could shoot with that type of realease though. i use the wrist strap, and shoot a hoyt ultra mag.

were you two using scopes? most i see with the sure loks use either 4X or 6X magnification. that's another thing i could never do.....i use a simple 5 pin sight....

Just NEVER cheat on her! :D  Wouldn't want her to split the twins at 30m. ;)

LOL thanks guys, I'll be sure to tell her she has developed a fan club.  We both use Sureloc sights, but no magnification in them just yet.  I just sold my Vulcan and bought more of a target setup.  I used to use the wrist strap release but have recently switched to the hand held type as well.  I actually like it better, for target shooting that is.  She shoots the Hoyt Avenger and I just bought a Hoyt Vectrix XL with the Z3 cam 1/2's that are on the new Katera's.  We are devoted Hoyt fans, and since Hoyt's are built 10 minutes from my home it works out just fine  :rock

Congratulations!

However IMO there should be no more wheels and catches to hold the draw/etc and everyone should go back to longbows.

Sorry other issues have preordained that you get a front row seat prior to this one. Oh yeah there are bows or something in those pics?
