Title: Is AH worth downloading again?
Post by: Trikky on August 08, 2008, 01:24:14 PM
Bearing in mind I hate runners/gangbangers?

Squad? Sacrosanct. Chess piece? Euhh…

Other than that, I’ve always wanted HTC to be as successful as they want to be. I would willingly give them my .50 per day but, truth be told, its reading this BBS that puts the mockers on my renewed subscription.

Sherman’s taking 88mm’s on the chin at 3 feet, F4U’s floating at 18 mph,  Spits/Zekes diving at 3,215mph, I can cope with.

Glad you've all gathered into 1 squad, makes life much easier.

Trikky your a good stick so I would think that you could over come some of the negative aspects and play the game your way.

I have never had a problem with a plane only pilots that I don't respect.

Having fun is a state of mind. If you let others control your ability to have fun in any way, shape or form, you're doomed to a life of self-imposed misery. That's not to say the game could not be improved to make it even more fun, it definitely could be. It's just to say that it's such an incredibly fun game, with so much variety and so many good people, that if you couldn't see the forest for the trees before, it's highly unlikely you suddenly will now or at any point in the foreseeable future.

In the end, you can always just not read the board.  You can always just fly DA if you're looking for a good flight.  You can always control your own destiny!

This game is the only game I play, so I'm bias but if you love to fly, right here, right now, is where you should be!

There's rarely more than 5 of us on at a time, out of 200-300+ in an arena. We must be incredibly good at ganging and picking to ruin the game for you that easily ... Perhaps you should examine your own playstyle for deficiences...:huh

Check your own no doubt extensive muppet logs. I was chased by 3 262's in a 109 till death, or trying to land but picked by some banana in a 152.

Christ you Muppets are pathetic.

Seriously, you seem to be nothing but a negative whiner. So while it would be worth it to us for you to download the game just to see your pathetic lamentations on 200 as we owned you repeatedly, it wouldn't be worth it to you because you'd end up killing your dog or the neighbor... maybe some insane mall rampage. It's clear you would garner no joy from playing. Go away mad if you must, but please go away.

The above tread is an interesting demonstration of the primary social methodology, which take place in AH>..

GROUP THINK...

I. Definition of Groupthink

    A. Groupthink is the tendency to place relational concerns of group unity ahead of task concern for effective performance.
    B. Groupthink manifests itself in the tendency of a group to seek unanimous agreement at the expense of careful, thorough, and critical analysis of the information, ideas, proposals, and reasoning upon which a consequential decision rests.

II. Conditions for "Groupthink"

    A. Highly cohesive group
    B. Members enjoy each other's company
    C. Strong desire/motivation to be part of the group
    D. Group is characterized by insularity

III. Symptoms (Indicators) of "Groupthink"

    A. Illusion of invulnerability -- we are incapable of being wrong
    B. Rationalization -- the ends justifies the means
    C. Inherent morality -- what we're doing is best for everyone
    D. Stereotypical thinking -- employ preconceived notions in evaluating information
    E. Close-mindedness -- ignore information that does not confirm or support the prevailing opinions of group members
    F. Mind guards -- group members who take it upon themselves to protect the group from information that contradicts prevailing opinion
    G. Pressure on dissenters -- group members aggressive "go after" colleagues who disagree with the general sentiments of the group
    H. Self-censorship -- group members willingly refrain from voicing opposition to the prevailing sentiments of the group
    I. Illusion of unanimity -- the belief that silence is an indication of agreement

************************************************************
(the above pulled from http://www.uiowa.edu/~c036011a/groupthink.htm for more on this subject)
Trikky, it is point less to argue with the fools which live here, and give each other cyber fellatio,  less you become one move victim of these losers... HT has walled this community - he's not going to care much what you, or I think anyway or stop these camp followers from making love muffines of them selfs, who lack sportsmanship, character and only grief others with a hateful mind set, a culture now embeded, which now has has taken all to fun out of this game... as well as the double standards, and inconsistent enforcement of the rulez, where some are punish for beahovoer that others are allowed to engage in. (see Orwell's work about farm animals for more understand of "all are equal...)  any way, It's not fun any more so, there are other places to to go spend time and have fun.
************************************
NOW to answer the question the Peanut gallery will blurt out, is...
don't let the door kick you in the uncle and get the hell out...

I say, even though I don't invest any more of my time and bucks here, I had paid my dues and played this game for nearly  8 years paying, HT thousand plus dollars, so to the Muppets men and other juvenile miscreants who  who think this is private bath house, I say,  I reserve my right to lurk, read, and  to respond as the spirit moves my fingers on my keyboard.  Now have fun making fools of your self while I watch and laugh..

Chi

Ps some more for the enlightenment of of the ignorant...

Two types of group climates (Gibb, 1961)

        A. Defensive Climate -- group environment characterized by perceived negativity, intimidation, fear, and threat.

                1. Group interaction is characterized by the frequent occurrence of PERSONALIZED EVALUATION -- i.e., comments that make fun of other people's ideas, or connect the criticism of an idea with the source of the idea.

Ex: "You're kidding, right? I sure hope so because that has to be the dumbest idea I have ever heard!"

                2. Group interaction is characterized by the frequent occurrence of CONTROLLING behavior -- i.e., comments that make others feel that they are being pushed around or told what to do.

Ex: "I'm sure what Randy meant to say was that the budget should be $2,500. Right Randy?"

                3. Group interaction is characterized by frequent occurence of STRATEGIC behavior -- i.e., comments that make others feel that they are being manipulated or that there is an ulterior motive or hidden agenda present.

Ex: "I'm hoping you support me as group leader . . . after all I've done for you in the past."

                4. Group interaction is characterized by frequent displays of SUPERIORITY -- i.e., comments that make you feel that others in the group thinks they are better than you.

Ex: "When I was in charge of things, I did the same thing you're suggesting, so I think its a good idea."

                5. Group interaction is characterized by frequent displays if CERTAINTY -- i.e., comments that indicate that someone in group thinks s/he is right and everyone else is wrong.

                        Ex: "I took a lone stand . . . I alone objected . . . I personally in the face of considerable opposition and skepticism defined . . ."

    B. Supportive Climate -- group environment characterized by perceived trust, cooperation, and camaraderie.

                1. Group interaction is characterized by DESCRIPTIVE EVALUATION -- i.e., comments that focus on the quality of ideas apart from its source.

Ex "I have three concerns with suggestion "X." My first concern is . . . my second concern is . . . my third concern is . . ."
(As opposed to: "Suggestion 'X' is a really bad idea for three reasons: . . .")

                2. Group interaction is characterized by the desire for COLLABORATION -- i.e., comments that invite group members to work together.

Ex: "We need to work together to get it done. Everyone's participation and involvement is important, and everyone's ideas and suggestions are welcome and needed.

                3. Group interaction is characterized by ACTIVE LISTENING -- i.e., comments that indicate that group members are trying to fully understand each other.

Ex: "If I understand you correctly, what you're suggesting is that we should do X. Is that right?"

                4. Group interaction is characterized by RESPECT -- i.e., comments that indicate that group members take seriously the suggestions and ideas of others.

Ex: "Dan has considerable experience in this area. I'm interested in what he has to say about suggestion X?

                5. Group interaction is characterized by OPENMINDEDNESS-- i.e., comments that indicate a willingness to listen to and consider the ideas of others.

Ex: "I've never looked at it from that perspective. Could you say more about it?"

IV. Summary: Defensive vs. Supportive Climate

        A. Personalized evaluation vs. Descriptive evaluation
        B. Control vs. Collaboration
        C. Strategic vs. Active Listening
        D. Superiority vs. Mutual Respect
        E. Certainty vs. Openmindedness

Trikky, I was an insufferable jerk in the game, much like you were. Eventually, peer pressure from other game players forced me to leave with my tail clenched firmly between my whiney buttocks. I was so despised that there were often mass mutings of me merely at the sight of my name appearing on the roster. I'm such a miserable, unhappy wretch that I don't know why I played all these years anyway. I never really enjoyed myself, never really just had fun. The only time I wasn't hating myself for being such an intolerable bafoon was when I was raining grief upon others.  Only when I brought misery to other gamers in the arenas did the pain of my own hateful existence lessen. I despise you and everyone, only slightly less than I despise myself.
I  really can't tell you the last time I had fun doing anything, I don't think I know how.

Purposefully misquoting me and putting words in my mouth, by "Steve" is extremely offensive, and out of line and borders on liable... You should know better HT... but I guess it's fun for you to have a blind eye to that  fact.

The morning radio show on the way to work has this story at least once a week somewhere in the US.

My other favorite is the bank robber who slipped the demand note to the teller for the cash and flees...The police nab him an hour later...The "perfect crime" was foiled because the demand note was written on the back of his personal check with his name and address on it... :huh

Squad?

:O you made 12 pages, I havent the time to read them but  after meeting you at Duxford I could tell you were just itching to fly your Yak again.

Rumour has it that the Yak3 will be in this next update  :D   and that will settle it for ya.
