...where things go so right for you it's almost silly? One of those nights where it has more to do with luck than anything else? I had a ride along for both of these flights, last night. Poor guy, thinks people fly in front of me all the time... wonders what he's doing wrong. :lol
Short films.
Here's the start of the second flight. Such freebies give me a mix of guilt and chuckles.

Here's the end of the second flight. FlyinFin waxes me in the first sequence. I really screw up my throttle management and he owns my 6 as a result; thoroughly outflying me in the process. <S> 'Fin.

Who was the shade? He He :lol
hehehe, shades are harder to shoot than a couple of the kills I bagged. Nothin against the pilots... the kills were gifts.

I landed seven in a Spit XVI a few nights ago without re-arming. That was among my best ever single sorties. Then the very next night I landed seven in a F6F-5 without re-arming.
Tonight I got two and two deaths. I guess I used up all my luck earlier in the week.

Double digit landings are always special :) :rock :rock :rock

Last night, I took a Ta 152 up to break a cap on one of our bases. The source of the horde was a CV offshore. My goal was to knock them down before they could drop bombs. My first attack knocked down a TBM. I reversed back and went after an F6F. I closed to within 100 yards, blasted the Hellcat and ducked under the wreckage... Only to run into the bombs the pilot had just pickled off.
My regards,
Widewing

lmao.....its not just me then...excellent - was taking down a town in a 110, dove in, pickled my eggs off.......didnt notice I was travelling quite so fast, so couldnt bring my nose up as quick as I would have liked - bomb vulched myself lol.......(made me giggle quite a bit ....and had to announce it on 200 :D)

Why did JB21 call me a "VAN NUTY BABY" :huh :huh
-
My gunnery, which was never great to start with, seems to have gone to pot this tour.
I can still get kills, but by the time I do, I'm out of ammo and have the whole red army behind me. :huh
I'm also finding the ground a particularly vicious foe atm.
-
Those are the nights when instead of asking myself "how are they doing that?" I ask "WHY are they doing that??"
Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
:D

I almost never have double digit single sortie kills like that. My idea of a perfect night is 10 missions where I always land 5-8 everytime. I never vulch, never rearm and my favorite ride has a fairly short clip. So, if I get a double digit kill count it's pure luck. But, yea I've had nights where I am a killing machine and make no mistakes, kind of like the Val Kilmer's character "Iceman" in Top Gun. It's beautiful when it happens.

Had a good night last night, shot down 3 ME262s in the same flight in a P-38J and had Dextur and Biggamer crying that they didn't sound like girls on vox.

I can honestly say, that in all my years of 'flying', I have never shot down double digits in baduns, much less land it. I landed 7 once in AW RR in a Spit and I landed 7 once in AH in a 38. Other then that it's been a dozen years of up....kill 1 or 2...die, with an occasional landing of 2-3 now and then, but then only when I've been saved numerous times and double digit wingmen have died to save my wrecked 38.
I have no clue how you gents get in and out of fights with all those kills :)

Tough night last night for me. I think I was number 10 or 11 on one of Steve's double digit landings. <Salute> You lucky bugger you. :)
