...AH felt better without it.
Was the 1st time you really could bring up some suprise attacks.
In my opinion, the game was more intense, had more opportunities to choose from.
The remaining bar dar gave a good idea were to find action, but atleast u had to find ur tgt and u were not guided to it.
-
Yep, it was nice having no enemy radar in the MA. Dar bar does plenty to let you know where the action is without giving you the radar SA crutch.
-
Ahh the dot dar lets you track that enemy 262 from over a sector away as you prepare to try and bouncem! +)

Dot dar should ONLY show stuff above 25k imo. And globally too. This will allow 25k+ buff raids to be seen from afar and have the defenders have time to scramble.
Anything below 20k shows on bar dar. Anything below 500ft AGL will not show on bar dar.
-
Have to admit, I liked it better without enemy dot dar also. Increase your SA and gave you a chance to bounce a little more.
-
Hello!
I agree full, never before search the skys for enemys so intensive during flights....
Keep the tension on, switch of Radar!

Yo HTC! Check this out!

Also radar cover behind a hills and mountains should be add to.
This could bring some excitement to MA

They should make it so that you could disable the enemy's dot dar, before launching an attack. Maybe by bombing a radar tower or something.
-
You can eliminate the enemy dar...that is the big grey thnig in front of the tower. It blinds that field.
I think enemy dar should be implmented. Perhaps 1 per field as we have it and then some scattered stations like Southern England had during WW2.
This would make defending "dar" very improtant.

There is, its called HQ. You bomb it to heck, the dot dar would go out.
The planes attacking HQ would have to go below 25k if they want to avoid being spotted on dot dar from afar. Heck, a Mossie attack may even do the trick flying NOE :D
-
Good point Tac...I think it would be cool to have stations setup that cover "sectors" that way you could blind the enemy as you advance.
That might make it too easy to keep the enemy blind tho..and make the whine factor go up.

no bar dar under 500ft ....
A field under attack should be able to report as such. GV's or aircraft can attack under 500ft and noone would ever know.. Did the town or base not have a communication system? +)

Why is 500ft the magic number?
Assuming the radar station is at sea level, and you are flying 500ft over the water (sea level again)- then why wouldn't the radar station be able to pick you up?
I don't know anything about radar (except that terrain was used to keep from getting detected- canyons and stuff)..
Would appreciate technical answers.

I wouldn't mind having it off if the sectors were smaller.
-
500 ft is not a majic number. Any time you are below a radar's horizon it is unable to detect you. This is not as true with ELF (extremely low frequency) sets, as the longer wave length tends to bend with the earths curvature.
Obviously many things can affect this, such as atmospheric conditions, which can cause ducting and detection at lower alts at greater ranges.

Historic radar of the germans and americans
had a ranges up to 200 km under certain conditions.
The long range radar types had decimeter waves and gave a rough and inaccurate picture of the incoming cons. It is comparable to AH's sector bars.
The short range systems like Wuerzburg had an effective range about 60km, but gave a precise picture of the situation. (http://www.luftarchiv.de/gerat/2.jpg)
I would like enemy dot radar 10miles around a field, and bar radar for the rest of the MA.

curvature of the earth... perhaps the 500ft represents the altitude at which overlapping stations could not "see"
just a thot

dots on bombers only .. turn it off for ftrs
TAC has a good suggestion
between totally off and what we have now, I'm for totally off.
