Title: Big / Epic songs from 80's 90's and now

So I caught a part of a show on VH1 "Top 100 songs of the 90's"  I could name 20 songs from the top of my head that might make anyones top 10 list.
Big songs like,

You ought to know
Smells like teen spirit
Half of Metallica Black album
Waterfall
Rooster
Jeremy
a ton from Dre and Snoop Dog
and dear god yes the Macarena


and so on.

One could easily do the same from the past decades.


Love them or hate them big songs that help define a generation / decade in music.

Here we are 2008, 4/5th of the way through this decade.
Big / epic songs anyone?  Any songs that when we look back on this decade will stand out?


Just reading my thread, I old and lecturing.  "You kids today.........."

Am I wrong?

Causes? 

I have presented this question to several people from all ages, and have not gotten more than one answer from each.

Ask people to name big songs from the 80s and 90s they could name a dozen or so, then ask them to name big songs from this decade.

Anyone,  anyone?

I disagree, in 1998 or 1988 we all could have listed NUMEROUS songs that were huge for that decade.

Lets see, the whole Punk thing from about 1992-2003 maybe, (except for maybe Bowling for Soup, most bands are now emo, when they were pretty good back then)

cRAP has done pretty well sadly. Stevie Ray Vaughn in the 90s... Plenty of stuff.

Everything Radiohead has ever done.  Particularly OK Computer.  Many say Kid A was just as good.  It may be that I just like guitar music more and Kid A is more electronic.  Check out "Paranoid Android" "Karma Police" "Lucky" from  OKC and "How to Disappear Completely" from Kid A
