Title: Kill shooter.
Post by: VansCrew1 on August 09, 2008, 08:40:44 PM
This is not a complaint  about kill shooter just a suggestion. We all know what kill shooter is and it's not like we go around kill shooting our selves for S&G's Most of the time is is by accident because someone flies in your line of fire. What im asking for is to just turn down to a point where someone can hit a friendly plane and no damage will occur to either of the people. Ive lost many a 262 because someone flys right into my bullet stream because he wants a kill.

just my 0.2$.

No.  This would totally distort the nature of a fight.  Currently when somebody is defensive against several enemy aircraft only the leader can comfortably fire at him.  With your change he would be under fire from all of them.  It drastically rebalances the relationship of attackers and attackee, tilting it much further in favor of the attackers.

Mass carnage is more realistic?

Some concessions must be made to the fact that this is a game and players are, well, players.

I've lost many 262's just by flying fast!

I would like to see where Killshooter causes no damadge either. The bullet just dissapear like when you shoot a friendly with a manned ack.

It's because unlike the OP, you have far better aim and fire discipline and don't spray and pray.

ack-ack

If kill shooter is switched off,may as well turn on friendly collisions once you are in the air

Stop flying in hordes, fewer friendlies means fewer chances to get Kill Shot, problem solved.

you cant have friendly collisions on at all.   what would prevent a 12 year old from driving a spit16 up your tailpipe.

this is also why kill shooter is in the game, to prevent 12 year olds from ruining it for the rest of us.

leave it as it is.... its the only way to keep it fun and fair.

ive died a few times before from some score potato....but theres no alternative.

I've lost many a 262 because someone flys right into my bullet stream because he wants a kill.

Symptom: Losing 262s due to people flying into one's own bullet stream because those people want a kill.

Diagnosis: General target-fixation and loss of awareness due to wanting a kill for oneself, and thus, oblivious of the possible dangers of firing upon friendly aircraft in the vicinity. Also may be associated with greed, lack of cooperation, and desire to monopolize every possible kill as one's own.

Conclusions: Entirely one's own fault. The concept of "Situational Awareness" includes not only that of the enemy, but also that of the friendly. Since MA lacks the forced cooperation, and general chain of command as seen in real military organizations, the responsibility to coordinate attacks amongst friendly units in the vicinity falls upon the shoulder of each and every player of the game. If but only one of the two people in the air were minding his surroundings, the described accident would never have happened. Since you can't force anyone to do anything in this game, there is always a possibility of such instances happening, and thus, it is up to oneself to try and avoid such incidents from happening.

 In other words,

 ... look before you shoot.

Friendly collisions are turned off mainly to avoid runway collisions. Imagine the carnage we'd have at the start of a mission when 10+ guys all try to occupy the same space. :D
