Me4,
Just a thought... I used to become infuriated when a guy started magically warping just when my firing solution was near perfect, or when someone would attack my buffs and then suddenly warp past me once I started firing back. Obviously some cable tugging/recorder on/off ing etc. was going on. But then it occurred to me that the reaction should be one of pity not outrage. This fellow is so small that he is willing to cheat in order to save his cartoon aircraft from destruction in a game. In essence, its a public declaration that you have no shame, no honor, no empathy, and probably no life to speak of.
Admittedly, this kind of character and the small men who spend all their time ranting and picking fights if someone makes the mistake of shooting them down lower my desire to play the game, but hey, you'll find 'em wherever you go. The trick is to let it stay their problem and not become yours out of sheer frustration. For them, its obviously more than a game, never let them make you join them in their land of the pathetic.

IMO we should just get rid of the scoring system, only thing we'd have to put up with then is Perk Harvesters.

Gee 1plus44, he could have started chest thumping thread in Gen. Disc. like yours?
:salute MEF4UD, you've always been a stand up guy.

When did it become about rank and score?
Towards the end of AW3.
The HTC system of 'name in the lights' landings and recognition of top scorers on the website adds to the problem. Basically, its encouraged.
Bring back kill macros and removing above emphasis on scoring and call it a day.

Never said it sucked. I pointed out an example of the level to which some in the game have descended. Why don't I quit? Well I don't quit because outside of these blatant examples of questionable tactics, I still enjoy flying around and killing cartoon airplanes.
Since this is a forum to openly express our thought and opinions I have. As have you, so eloquently I might add.

I would check BB rules 4, 8, and 9...
Post was a commentary on the decline of the level of "fair play", honor and what I would call appropriate game behavior that I have noted in my five plus years of Aces High. Your opinion may differ and I :salute you for having one.
As for the rules.
4- Members should post in a way that is respectful of other users and HTC. Flaming or abusing users is not tolerated.
I did not call him names. I pointed out what was done and how I felt about it.
8- Cheating allegations or descriptions are not allowed. Email support@hitechcreations.com to report any issues regarding this. HTC permanently bans anyone caught cheating in Aces High. We take cheating and allegations of cheating very seriously.
Never accused him of cheating. Just of exploiting a know bug to pad his score.
9- Complaints about a player's behavior online should be emailed to support@hitechcreations.com rather than posted to this board.
Email with corresponding film sent.

I would check rule #6 :P
Known bug? I personally have never experienced this bug, therefore unknown to me.
Usually what I see are people complaining about "invincible vehicles" as they shoot at them from 2.5K out.

I wasn't around then and haven't heard anything about it, what are "kill macros"?

a) Get off the whole honour thing. It's outdated in this game, and it's time for you to realise (even if you don't accept) that most other players don't see things your way. I am NOT saying that it's outdated in real life (as it most certainly is not), but this game is not real life, and people should not treat it as such.
b) There is no b.
In my opinion, the game is just fine the way it is. If you don't like the 'dishonourable, barbaric, un-community-spirit oriented approach' of the rest of the players, then as far as I'm concerned, you can shove it. I believe I speak for many people here when I say that my real-life friends and communities take huge precedence over this, and as a result I don't overly worry about this community, and what people think of me here. This does not mean that I'm going to 'let loose' when I play Aces High and act like a stupid, ignorant, arrogant and rude jerk-off, by contrast I always try to treat people here as I would if I actually knew them.
Sorry for being so rude, but I've seen so many of these nostalgia posts that it drives me nuts. I know I should ignore them since I don't like them, but hey.

This is how you treat your real life friends...?
I see no problem with this post. People posted about stat padders before and no one gave them any grief for posting it.
I agree though, if I knew I was invincible, I'd end sortie.
Oh, and about the whole "warping when you get near someone" bit, that's not always on purpose, please don't accuse people of cheating instantly. It seems that the closer you get to an airplane, the more apparent the warping becomes. I was having huge computer issues for the past 2 months (finally got it sorted! :aok) and being called a cheater when you had no idea you were warping is an awful feeling. I actually got reported once because of it. Good thing I was already in contact with Skuzzy about my problem or I could've had an issue...

I wasn't around then and haven't heard anything about it, what are "kill macros"?
In AW, we had the ability to create macros. You can use macros for in game commands like arm your bombs or to make "kill" macros that you can broadcast over open channel with some sort of message. An example, "Someone just got a lead enema. Kill 479th Raiders"

What ack-ack said.
In AW, if you landed, there was no system message telling the world how many kills you had.
What most people did was 'pre-record' funny messages to broadcast on "200." When you killed someone, you would press the designated key and get a laugh. Since they were user created, you cold always count on some good, new stuff just about every night.
As a result of the system, to achieve inter-country E-fame you were required to fight, not land. Far fewer runners, much more dog fighting.
-
Ummm, in AW there was a system buffer message each time you got a kill, "Zazen shot down Bob, Kill #7". So, it was actually much worse in a way...People who lusted for your pelt would quickly realize where you were and do anything they could to end your sortie kill streak. So, if you wanted to preserve your streak you had to be extremely crafty and move around a lot to evade the "head hunters". AW also rewarded overall kill streaks with a progressive point multiplier, AH does not. So, AH's scoring system is actually much less conducive to timid scoreplaying.
In AH it is actually better to kill and die if you kill quickly enough and in sufficient quantity, than to kill and live in the same quantity as this tends to take quite a bit longer in terms of alting, re-alting, RTB'ing and Re-arming. In AW K/D was everything, in AH K/D is just one of the component sub-stats and the least competitive of them, reaching its point of dramatically diminishing returns at 5 to 1 or so. So, AH's scoring system actually rewards not being timid to a point...

I used to have some sweet macros... hehehe

It's obvious that it's been a long time and my memory has faded a bit but I seem to recall that was only visible to you and not the general arena. The system message the arena would see was "A kill has been recorded" and "XXX shot down". If you went to the O'club and read the AA reports then you'd see "XXX shot down XXX, Kill #7".
In the beginning, AH's system messages were almost identical to WB's.

Yea, I'll admit my memory isn't improving with age either. But, I know people could deduce where you were fighting by who you shot down from the information the game made publicly available in real-time. I can't recall whether it was all right there in the buffer or if they had to check the combat logs and scoresheets. I also can't remember exactly who saw what in the buffer but, I know there was an acknowledgement by the system when and who you killed that was visible by the other team in real-time. Now that I think about it I think the, "XXXX was shot down", message was checked against the player's scoresheets, logs or a public declaration by the recently victimized. The end result was the whole scoring system revolved around getting on kill streaks and/or ruining the kill streaks of others.

This is very true. I'm a shameless "land-my-kills" dweeb and I'm consistently outranked by people who die a lot more with lower K/D ratios. I'll spend 20 minutes stalking high altitude buffs only to kill one before I take a radiator hit, and do it again the next sortie. So, in a way, having the name in lights awards people with superficial fame even though they are not rewarded by the ranking system.
Btw, in warbirds you could also figure out who was in an enemy aircraft by the kill messages

some of us have built friendships that go far beyond the game...........
oh another thing..their are many of us who hold respect and courtesy for our fellow game player, and cherish the fights, and have something , that you probably will never be able to grasp the thought or concept of........
(the reason for the editing , I noticed something had disappeared from a post, so I figured the person read what I wrote, and was unable to go back and edit or delete his post, if this is not the case....I will just remember to see how the person molds and which way they become a part of the community or not )
