You cant up from it. But Lets say you have low fuel and need to land so land an re-arm and up again.
There is no ack on it.
-
what dose this have to do with a "wishlist"?
-
I think he is wishing for a runway and re-arm pad at the v-bases.
]
would be cool, but then its not a v-base.
-
i think a dirt runway would be cool...minus the rearm pad though
-
No. It is a vbase.
You can already land there in a pinch if you need to, you just can't rearm.
-
I can seem to land perfectly fine at a Vbase. What I wish for is "Aircraft Supps" which gives you, say, 50% more ammo than you have at that current moment. This could be dropped from an M3 or German M3. It would take 30 seconds once you click the button at the top of the screen, as GV supps button is right now. That way, if you were out of fuel, you were out of luck, but if you had fuel, you could ask a squad member to up from the Vbase and drop a box of Aircraft Supps, and get some more ammo.

yeah boi :aok

I'll write up something better, later. That was the best I can explain it right now.

I think a rearm pad would be excellent at both V-bases and ports.

No to the runway. As you can already land there it is flat enough. No for the rearm as most gv bases would not have the right or any ord to begin with in real life. Yes to refueling as it would be just standard gasoline??? I think not sure on that though.

Now I've changed my thoughts to that it should be an edited rearm pad, in that it can refuel aircraft, and reload guns, troops and supplies, BUT NOT rockets, torpedos, bombs etc.

That would require code changes as all our current pads do is reset the aircraft to its original loading state. Whereas plopping a rearm pad or dirt runway onto the VBases is a matter of a little object adjusting, since the object library already contains a dirt runway and basic rearm pads.

please explain why you think we shouldnt have one. in detail

I think it's fine the way it is. If you find yourself in a less than desirable situaion (shot up, low fuel, and/or farther away from an airfield than you would like) do the best you can to land at that v-base, and fly a bit smarter the next sortie. There's been many, many times I've bagged a couple kills (ex. bombed two tanks in a Jug) and get shot up by a Wirble just enough to make it extremely difficult to land them at a convenient v-base, so I just hope for the best and prepare for the worst (ditch or "death").

pretty sure most vbases would have a carton or two of .50/.303/etc lying around ;) cannon rounds? depends if that calibre were also used in gvs.
-
Didnt the wirbel carry the same rounds used in german a/c?

No.
MG151/20 fires a 92-117g projectile at 800-720 m/s
Wirbelwind fires a 132g projectile at 900m/s

why not some more 50 cal ammo for the pony. if you land at a vbase. thats realistic.

Basically you're saying the only plane that can get more ammo is the pony, if he landed there?

I have always understood that a Vbase was for emergency landing situations only, not a refueling/rearming station of convenience. I truly think that it should stay that way. There is no reason put forth as of yet to change this setup.
-
Only thing I would like to see to this is a emergency runway (dirt runway) to land on and have a successful landing. No to rearming pads and stuff like that.

Nobody has mentioned the differences in fuel mixtures? (Octane)
Ammunition aside, this rarely happened in WWII and when it did, it took a darn good engineer to either mix up 2 different octanes or add small amounts of various oils or oil products in order to not hinder engine performance.
The BMW 801 for instance, used in 190's, was rated for B4 or C3 octanes only and vehicle fuel lowered engine power by something like 50%.
I'm not totally sure but I think the B4/C3 octanes equal about 110 octane on American planes. Most aircraft fuel of WWII, although very similar to vehicle fuel, still had higher octanes... Up to 150 maybe? So auto engines would burn out super fast if aircraft fuel was used.
Let us also not forget Water Injection engines of WWII. I'm not totally sure they had water injection vehicle engines back in the 40's. And then the Luftwaffe were trying some crazy Methanol-Water Boosting System which kept engines cooler but never gave them the extra power they were looking for. Not to mention the fact that the Luftwaffe had many aircraft engines configured for using synthetic fuels, not natural petroleum fuel.
Now I digress... I dont think there is much modeling going on with the fuels in the game but we all know that the "non-pump" Brit planes will stall when inverted. So I doubt this would make sense if it happened.
Then again, I've been at happy hour for 3 hours today. Maybe a pro can comment on my rantings.
Oh yeah an Ammo for aircraft is belted differently then the .50 cals for vehicles.

A dirt landing strip would indeed be nice. I know i've heard many stories (Cant verify accuracy) from my grandfather and his remaining friends that when you were shot up, you landed at ANY friendly location you could and to better facilitate this many front line bases had crude dirt strips or sometimes a crudely paved or crudely metal framed strip.
You could land there with out having to "Ditch" if you missed the tiny pavement parts. I however dont think that you should be able to re-arm/re-fuel as the current pads allow. Yes forward bases had Ammo and Fuel, but most of the time they didnt have the right tools to do much to aircraft. The only few execptions I see to this are some small bases in the pacific theater.

well any american plane...
im just saying what would be possible in real life. i dont care about adding re arm pads or not. just pointing out some realism.
