i think we should b able to control the speed on the carriers when u have command of them. like all ahead full cruising speed slow for hard turns. tell me what you think. :salute btw i did a half-hearted search.
-
I've only seen this once before. I still agree, it would be nice to have more control of the CV other than being able to set waypoints.
-
not a bad idea actually :aok
-
I've been able to make to carrier come to a complete stop a few times. :) Just turn it one way, and as it startes turning, turn it the opposite direction. Carrier stops and the buffs boming from 10K almost always miss!
I like the idea though

Agree as well. For the purpose of adding difficulty to level-bombing a CV, variable speed could possibly be an advantage to CV evasive manuvers. I find it too easy to level-bomb a CV from 8K unless a fighter defense is hanging over it. The CV speed and turning ability is too predictable, and usually my load of bombs sink it.
EDIT: Latrobe, you are one of the very few, then. Very seldom has someone proved they are that good at the helm.

Not a bad idea at all. But me thinks it to be much Dev work.
-
Probably not as much as you think.
I think if this were implemented we could at least consider the next aspect of the game; scouting with the PBY to add an enemy CV icon to the clipboard. Since speed is now controllable, the task-force's chances of survival have been increased.
-
yes this would be a good . command if you were in command of a cv and wanted to slow it down while you are in the air to prevent it from being bombed.

Not really.
I see it as a new dot command.
Take control of a CV, and type in
.cv(insert number) 25/50/75/100
25 50 75 and 100 meaning percentages of throttle to use (I know its 'vague' but, hey, better than what we got now, and it makes the command that much easier).
-
yes, good idea :aok
-
I like the idea for the most part my only concern it would increase the number of Lanstuka types who wont take the time to learn level bombing.
-
The PBY idea of scouting them out would be a good idea. :aok

I see your point. I would obviously do the same since I would want to have fun, not fly 20 minutes to determine my sortie was a failure because the bombs were 2 feet in front of the task force.

I dont get it, you want to be able to make the CVs slower - why?
Its not like its difficult to avoid level bombers - its the same tactic as evasion in a slower, more manouverable plane - break turn at the last moment. it always amuses me whern I hear people calling "Buffs incoming, turn that CV now dammit!" like the buff pilot cant adjust his line from 5 miles out

When people bomb, they usually try to aim in front of it when going after CV's. If you can get the CV turning slowly or at a complete stop, you will have a far greater chance of saving it. :aok

Reverse!!!
-
Right.... As if the wake from the CV isn't that strong.

WOD (Wind Over the Deck) is a crucial part of launch and recovery. You go jacking with the CV's speed and you can forget about upping a really heavy Hog (not sure about the F6F). And it adds a level of complexity to the code that HTC may not want to deal with.
