Maybe non-NBC reporters are desperate for unique stories. Maybe Olympic journalists are just bored. But does anyone else think that some of the stories that are hitting the news make the media sound like idiots?
Here are some of the headlines......
"The Olympics Didn't Want Her Face -- Just Her Voice" - Story about lip-syncing singer.
"Spitz: 'I never got invited'" - Mark Spitz whining about not getting "invited" to attend.
"Fakery at the Olympic Games" - Computer-generated prerecorded fireworks at the opening ceremony.
"Chinese tanks watch over media centre" - Someone parked a BMP in front of the media center overnight.
"Bush hugs bikini-clad U.S. Olympians" - Wouldn't you?
And then there was the whole row about journalists not being able to access certain web sites from China. The list of web sites included Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, along with sites pertaining to Tibet and the Falun Gong. Aren't these people supposed to be in China covering the Olympics? No matter the good intentions, should we care if Roger Reporter can't check the Amnesty International BBS while he is in Beijing?
And these are stories from the AP and the major media outlets. No wonder so many think so little of the main-stream media.

This one is just sad. They said it was done in the best interest for the country...

It was interesting to watch the post match interview where they were so much more apparent and the director had to figure out what to do with the camera :) You could'a put an eye out with those things :)

Forgot to mention empty seats. Tickets were all sold out but I guess some people only want to watch basketball, gymnastics, and beach volleyball.

The humanity!
Next they'll be telling us that wasn't really Beavis and Butthead at the Grammys.
