Things that would be cool...
Separate amphib assault fleets, w LST's that can spawn 5 gv's....
Shore batts that have 4/14inch dissapearing guns in open pits, with stereoscopic rangefinders...
Manned Antitank guns at towns and Vbases.... PAK40's????
Flak tower in towns, with twin 88's dual purpose guns, AT/puffy ack....
Maps w river crossings.... fords??? and
Bridge supps for building pontoon bridges, 1 supp run, for each pont&span....
That would make for some Gnarly fights!!!
Dumbo/pilot rescue as a scored catagory in the game....
Show what a good guy you are, by saving your buddies kills....
Single Destroyer, like PT boat... (Fubuki class????)
Bail outs from GV's, w tommygun and bazooka w 2shots...
I think these things would all be a BLAST!!!!
They would add new twists, and new action to the game...
Just a few ideas, after all this is the wish list!!!
Civilized comments welcome...

That fluffy bunny ate my plane!

i really do like the pilot rescue aspect. maybe only if they landed behind enemy lines would you get points???
also like the manned ack in towns. bigger ack too.
not totally ridiculous. :salute
-
We used to have puffy ack in towns (unmanned). They took it out, doubt you'll see it again. I'm glad they did. More of a nuisance of sound than anything else, because puffy ack back then was so ineffective I think I flew for a few months before ever realizing you can get a ding from it.

Same here. I loved it :D
But seriously,
Aces High + PBY + pilot rescue = very happy me

And the whole point of rescuing some one would be?......
Unless you get perk points for it, or if you rescued a squad mate/teammate, your country rank goes up?
-
you get bomber perks for it(useless) but the rescued pilot doesnt get as many points docked for being captured. its more for sentimental value.
why do people brings supplies? they dont get points...
its because the people who need them are their friends.
thats why you would rescue a pilot.

Couldn't they just ditch?... instead of waiting in the water... alone...with sharks... and then re-up?..

Let's think of this idea - rescuing a downed pilot - in a different way. Instead of thinking, "this could provide perks which is extra incentive to pick up those guys." Or thinking, "being rescued means you keep the perks you earned on that flight." Let's think of the impact this would have on the AH community.
Consider newer players who still don't understand anything of the, "honor system." If they were downed and this feature was around, would you hear, "Someone, please pick me up. Just wondering if anyone can, otherwise I'll just ditch." Or would you hear, "YOU MORONS! CAN'T YOU SEE I BAILED OUT?! GET YOUR REARS OVER HERE AND PICK ME UP! I HAVE 3 PERKS ON THE LINE!!!!"
Now which is more likely? The friendlier version, or the more aggressive version?

The funnier one :)

Because sitting in the water for 15-45 minutes waiting for an extremely vulnerable, very slow flying boat to fly into a combat zone to pick you up and save your score a little damage (it would not change perks, you get those even if killed and you already lost the 1.25 multiplier for a successful landing) sounds like a great way to spend the evening?
-
Yes, well some people (i.e. me when I have a bit of time on my hands) would take break, and fly in our PBYs to places where pilots would soon bail out, and wait.
-
As the game stands now, it is far too easy to reup after you die...
Thats why there are so many guys who bomb and bail...
Also, the "fly till ya die" syndrome, (which I am sometimes guilty of)....
Dieing or bail/capture, should make a much heavier hit on score/rank...
It should put you out of the fight for awhile... or at least on the ground for awhile...
After all, survival is a component of combat, in any type of fight...
Players would act very differently, if death/capture actually had a tangible cost in the game...
Cost to yourself, and to your buddies in the fight....
Interesting thought.... In a pitched battle, victory/defeat hanging by a thread... Your best players
are goin down in droves, on both sides.... If those pilots are not rescued, If they tower/ditch/bail,
they are stuck in GV's for awhile... So, you loose their services in their most valuable capacity...
That could definately shift the tide of battle...
I am a pretty good attack/bomber, and GV guy..... But in fighter, I suck.... I just get clobbered, almost every time...
So, the fighter jocks who give me aircover, (the good ones, not the scorepotatos), are extremely valuable to me...
I would gladly run a dumbo sortie, to pick them up.... Just to keep them flying, and IN the fight....
I realize that this post is futile.... Because furballers don't care about the "Real fights that have real objectives" anyway....
They just go round and round, playin the buttpinchin gotcha game with their furball buddies....
Whatever, they are inconsequential anyway, because they leave themselves out of the fighting that has any meaning to their countrymen...
But it needs to be said again, cuz its true....
Too bad, lots of good pilots in those furballs!!!!

And what stops you from being killed while sitting in the water in a combat zone?

i agree with RC, lets put more emphasis on staying alive, and accomplishing objectives. that is why fso is so fun, you get one plane, and everyone is a lot more cautious.
maybe a 3 to 5 minute time out if you die...? but if you get rescued you get up again? idk something
-
I agree with the pilot rescue idea, will give the supp runners another aspect in the game. Got to give the guy credit, hes thinking out of the box.
Personally I would fly in behind the lines, or over the water, to pick up a squadie, as would most.

Because an arena full of people who run from everything unless they have a massive advantage is a good thing?
In reality, where the stakes were far higher, people had real reasons to fight, even from a disadvantage. In AH there are no such reasons and thus you'd have an arena full of people flying only the fastest fighters "realistically" by running from anything that wasn't at a heavy disadvantage to them. The climbout and flight back to the fight is already enough downtime and adding another 3-5 minutes, or even 30 seconds is completely unnecessary.
-
im talking about killing the same guy over and over again when you try to take a base. sometimes one guy can mess up a mission if you're undermanned.
also would eliminate suicide bombing.
its not all about furballin
:salute

I agree with Ghost. This wasn't made JUST for furballing, its was made for civilians to see what it was like flying in a P51,A6M,etc.Not just for furballing.
-
Well actually,
I think this game (in its original incarnation) was an all furball game...
I wasn't around back then, which is good, because I would have just gotten bored...
Blew it off as childish... No purpose, but to endlessly pull somebody's tail feathers...
Some are satisfied with that... Thats cool too....
When they started with the GV's, it opened a whole new world for the game...
And every update, the game just gets better...
More vehicles, more planes.... more targets....
I'm really seeking a new twist for the game...
New evolution, new missions, new situations, new twists in gameplay...
Because the standard patterns of gameplay, are sooo well known...
That the game is getting a little stagnant....
A new tank, or plane, won't change that...
So a little shake up, would be good.... It doesn't have to be earth shattering...

Again, ask yourself how the community attitude would change. A newer player who has no idea of how the, "honor code," works gets shot down. Now, would you hear him saying, "If somebody is nearby could you please pick me up? If nobody is nearby I'll simply ditch, just wondering." Or would you hear, "SOMEBODY PICK ME UP! I JUST GOT SHOT DOWN!!!! OMG! DAS ENEMIES IS COMING!!!! OMG PEOPLE, DON'T FLY AWAY! THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!!!!! I H@S 3 PERKS!"
Now, which is more likely to occur?

Can I wish for world peace here?

These are some really cool ideas guys. For those looking to do more than furball, come give the 173rd Guardian Angels a look. Ok, Ok, Sorry for the cheap azzed plug by I just had to! :lol :D ;)
Having said that, in our squad we would LOVE to have the ability to be able to rescue our fellow squadies and save his perks, and kills!
How bout this too fellas. If you were downed over an enemy base, maybe they could add in a Radar Control Box somewhere on the field. Maybe it would be in different rooms, or hangars in random.
If you make it there you could shut the radar down for a whole hour with hits from your side arm or something like that. Something to do while you wait for your rescue. Maybe they could make a few hiding spots where you cannot be seen.
While wishing big here, it would be neat if there were more ways to use sabotage towards strats, bases, and CVs. :noid
