Can yall believe this $%#@?
So whats the deal with the former Soviet Republic of Georgia and Russia? I haven't been able to find out what the conflict between them is about but if its about Georgian terrorism against Russia then shouldn't the US be supporting Russia?
I just dont think we're in a position to be trying to order a cease fire when the majority of our troops are in Iraq and Afghanistan. IMO we need to just keep our mouths shut on the sideline for once.

If you haven't been able to find out what the conflict is about, you haven't been trying. And, not knowing what the conflict is about, how do you form an opinion?

Ok, I'll admit that I'm probably in the wrong by forming an opinion before I knew the backstory. But in my original post I asked why the Russians attacked Georgia; not for a rebuke of my opinion of why we should stay out of their business. Why dont you tell me the reason if its so easy to find?
I intended this post to be a pun (as shown in the title) on the US's involvement in World Affairs, but I'm at fault for prematurely stating my opinion.

Homework. Yours done by others, much?

You might try an old fashioned analog method of communication, called a newspaper. Inside that means of communication there is something called a news story. The news story has contained within it the answer to your dilemma about a lack of information regarding the conflict in Georgia.

Georgia basically started the war by attacking South Ossetia.
And it's weird how some news media try to portray as if Russia started it.

Actually I find it weird how gullible some respondents are here to russian propoganda... despite a couple of hundred years of evidence that they freakin lie like prostitutes.

You would have been better off looking at the thread that Boroda has already started on the subject. We have all kinds of info in there.

Well, for once, I agree with you.... There are multiple times throughout recent history where Russia (then the Soviet Union) straight up lied about certain achievements or lied about actions being taken due to certain circumstances (such as recently)..
They are definitely a product of their environment in more ways than one...

The Georgians attacked about like The poles actually attacked the German radio station... South Ossetia is a province of Georgia, The russians were giving away citizenship to anyone who walked up and signed and declared themselves to be russian citizens. This territory belongs to Georgia, no ifs ands or buts...
Do some research on the New government of Georgia, the old one was corrupt but these guys are SERIOUSLY pro-western, listen to this, it is in 3 parts... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=C0RTGtwW_y0
Putin is ex KGB... Although he is no longer officially in charge, he and his henchmen are still pulling all of the strings.

Ya know, it just so happens earlier this evening, I was in the local tavern, blowin' the froth off a few, and this guy behind me starts hittin himself and pretty hard too.
So I took out my gun and shot him.
Told the police when they arrived what happened and they agreed with me and said that if I hadn't killed him he would probably still be hitting himself, but he did start it.
>>> sorry, This should probably be in the general gun thread.
of course, http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,243480.0.html (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,243480.0.html)

C'mon.....
Just focus on 8th of August 2008 event. It was clear who started it.

It was clear who started it.
That's what I told the cops, and they agreed with me, although I did get cited for discharging a gun within city limits.
Cost me $85 :cry

This is already being discussed here (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,243480.0.html). No need for another thread about it.
