Title: CV spawn time
Post by: FiLtH on August 15, 2008, 12:52:59 AM
Make a drydock at the port. After a CV sinks, its placed back in the drydock. Its a simple shape similar to the drone ships at the docks. As time passes, its shape goes from a hull, to a hull with deck, to a complete CV. At that time it appears out in the port area like it does now. However, while its building it can be bombed, and slow the build time.

Good idea. Something that has some similarity to how one can tell when a VH pops, perhaps.

If we make spawning CVs bomb able targets, then we need air defense like they defended ports back in WW2. With lots of flak and ack-ack (maybe even a few manned 5"), not just a few auto acks.
In AH1 at least the docked ships could shoot back and added to total number of autoacks and also provided a manned 8" and few 5" gun (those days destroyers didnt have manned guns).

Seriously even without a bomb able CV spawn, I think after the docked ships were neutered, the ports in AH2 are pretty poorly defended as compared to airfields. In the good'ole days capturing a port was much more a achievement than it is today.

I like this idea, but as Hazard said, we'd need at LEAST 3 or 4 5" guns, and a few 3" guns as well, manned guns, of course. Maybe even a small, SMALL strip of dirt and have the ability to spawn oh, say 109E, P40E, A6M2, and other hanger queens. This will 1.) provide much need air defense and 2.) get more use out of the hanger queens. Maybe get some early-war planes that were used in the pacific?
