Title: microphone

whenever i use my mic i can hear myself through my own speakers.  does anyone know how to stop this??

Go to your sound controls (usually in the lower right hand of the task bar), go to options, go to properties, go to playback, go to microphone and turn that dial all the way down to zero.

Make sure you don't do this in the recording section of the sound panel, otherwise no one else will hear you either.
