Title: French Canadas Epic Fail
Post by: Monty405 on August 15, 2008, 06:25:24 PM
Lets face it, Canadas attempt to introduce poutine to the American market is a complete failure but why? Americans love french fries, thats for certain. They also like their gravy and cheese - eeveryone loves cheese. So why then had poutine not achieve great widespread success in the us of a?

Very tasty and very fattening.... :aok

Some restaurants here in the west carry it while most do not.....

Toss up out here for the best topping for fries:

Mayo is good

Gravy (brown sauce for the southerners) Turkey or Peppered ROAST beef

Ketchup

Salt & Vinager

Barbeque Sauce

Pepper and spices.

Texas has had their version of that for decades.  Shoot, I used to eat it for lunch in high school nearly everyday.

Only we call it "chili cheese-fries".

Although poutine is pretty good, it is also fairly bland.

Got on a "Kinda" French thing with French Fries - they serve them with Mayo instead of Catchup.

Got on that kick for awhile but finally my love of Catchup drew me back.   :D

I'll try it. I cant stand what passes for fries in America today.

When I was a kid I used to sit with the old man, knife in hand, with real potatos, and make real french fries. Then we'd toss them into the oil cooker and cook them the right way. I have an old time diner near the house that actually makes fries the way they are supposed to be made, and chocolate shakes too. With milk, and chocolate, and ice cream, and syrup.

Fast food joints killed real American cooking. McDonalds gets away with selling soylent green, "which is people", and nobody says or does anything about it. I bet they burn flags there too, AND, are Liberals. And are anti-gun.

Forgive my rant but I hate whats happened to fries in this country. It makes me want to whack out a few commies.

Thank God for Texas.

Poutine's like my ex-girlfriend: Goofy as hell but still good in a pinch.   A little place out south of here serves fries with Fry Sauce-combo of mayo and ketchup.  I thinks it's a Colorado, Utah phenomenon and it's tasty.
