What's in it?
Did you buy it or did your parents? If your parents bought it, it's good!

Emachines are great PCs, 'till you have to replace part or do a full system restore.  They have troubles with the Restore not asking for the disk and then messing everything up.  As for replacing parts, it's easy as anything else, it's finding said parts then the price is normally crazy.  They wanted $160 for a replacement Socket 939 Motherboard.
It all depends on the model and what it has as to how good it is though.

It's only good if it does what you want it to do.  Does it?

e-Machine is now owned by Gateway and represents a line of entry level desktops. You will find them at WalMart for less than $500. IIRC they utilize Celeron processors (not great for gaming) and expandability is limited. That said, I own an eMachine laptop built around an AMD Duo Core processor and it's been relatively trouble free.

Bottom line, if your parents gave it to you, say "thanks" and enjoy it. If you're thinking about buying one, save your $ for a home built.
