What's your opinion for the 3 toughest planes in AHII?
These are the 3 for me, no particular order.
1. P-38
2. P-47
3. P-39
I always have the most trouble killing these when it comes pumping lead into the plane itself. :aok

Toughest as per firepower? Toughest as per shooting down? I assume you mean toughest to shoot down...
P-38 - Yeah, it's a bit fragile, but flown right it's a downright tough bird to shoot down
P-47 - Seems fragile in game by some, but I've soaked up many, many 50 cal, 20mm, even a couple 30mm cannon rounds and still got home.
F6F-5 - It pack's a punch while having the ability to take a punch. I've survived 30mm hits to the nose before, and countless hits to the wings and tail.
-
I mean as can take a lot of lead. Seems the 38s are the toughest for me lately. They usually go down either in a violent boom, or limp away with an engine oil hit. I can never get a wing off and when they explode, it's after trying to limp away with an engine oil.

Clearly you mean only aircraft classified as fighters. In that case...
F4F/FM2: surprised no one has mentioned it. One of the few aircraft that will regularly take a 30mm shell and act like nothing happened.
190F-8: it's a hidden secret.
P-47: of course.

Any birds that have two or more engines.

To me the F6F seems to be able to take a lot of punishment as too the Mossie but the biggest sponge would have to be the IL2.

F8's are tough too.

IMHO, the top 2 toughest single engine fighter/attackers are the P-47 and IL-2. Both can take a serious beating. Fm2/F4F/F6F/Hurri/190F8 all tie for 3rd.
B-25 and A-20 take the most hits for twin engine attackers, with the P-38 a close 2nd (fighter/attacker). Ki-67 is also up there.
For pure bomber aircraft, award goes to the Lancaster, followed by the B-17 and B-26.

F4F/FM2. I truly believe they will aborb as much, if not more lead, than the P-47. And they are a smaller target.

It is a durable plane, though i do think a 47 can take maybe 10-15 more .50's then a FM2/F4F can, thats just IMHO, off of what i've seen, anyway.

Nothing else really jumps out at me. The P-47 is tough but not incredibly so.

I'm not prejudice against any plane. If I take it in the kisser or up the diggleberry door its all the same no matter what plane I explode in. I have a 2 minute life expectancy in any plane from a B-17 to a Spit. Don't let the Corrs1 landed ## kills in a text buffer fool ya, its all a payment for giving HT (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/green/greensmilies-003.gif) (http://www.greensmilies.com) a laugh at my little friends making Skuzzy (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/transport030.gif) (http://www.freesmileys.org) out to being a 10 speed bicylce riding goofball and HT being the superhero studmiester (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/green/greensmilies-028.gif) (http://www.greensmilies.com) he is. 1. Fw-190s when skilled pilots employ rolling maneuvers.
2. Yak-9s. They're small targets!

why thank you, I had no idea! man your smart!

Ive hit FM2s with numerous hits and its failed to go down. IL2s? yeah Ive been able to land them so shot full of holes you wonder how it stays up. B17s? Pretty tough, and Hellcats too.
I find the P-38 not so tough as say the P-47. The Typhies can take some licks too.
-
One that sometimes surprises me is the KI-84. Maybe I'm crazy, but every now and then I run into one that just takes more hits than it should.
-
Your all experience a disease called "rubber bullets", discovered in 1990 by Dr. Rubber and Dr. Bullet, they believed it was caused by a virus called "lag" and "intardnet". Scientists today are still studying about this unusual and equally devastating disease.

Fighters Id say LA7,Hurri2C,and P40E

I don't know if it is "toughest", but the Mosquito has become a heck of a lot tougher when I use it than before the damage model was redone on it.

Surely you can't be serious.
