Title: National Treasure(s) Lost
Post by: ODBAL on August 19, 2008, 11:46:59 AM
Christina Applegate underwent a double masectomy.  Tragic in so many ways.  Since her "Married with Children" days she has proven herself to be a darn good actress, not to mention she is drop dead gorgeous. Best of luck Christina!

She always seems like one of the more level-headed people in the industry.

"I'm going to have cute boobs 'til I'm 90, so there's that," she joked in the interview, which aired Tuesday. "I'll have the best boobs in the nursing home. I'll be the envy of all the ladies around the bridge table."

I met her at the Sunset Social Club back in '92, very nice young lady and nice looking as well.  Yes she seemed to be serious about the business of acting while others just played the social set.  I am very sorry to hear of her situation and wish her all the luck in her struggle.

I hope I am reading your "headline" and post wrong but if all you are sorry for is the loss of 2 breasts that says a lot about you. They are not the woman and they do not define her. There are lots of women who have had similar operations and that tissue neither defines them, limits their potential or sets their worth.

She will still be just as good a performer with out the tissue. Loss of a woman's breasts do not make her a woman or diminish her.

Best of luck to Ms Applegate and I hope she has many cancer free years ahead of her.

Who'd have guessed that "Kelly Bundy" had such a head on her shoulders. She's definitely a class act. :aok

Maverick,
Thank you so much for standing up for all women against the likes of "man pigs" like me.  I'm sure you have cemented your place in the N.O.W. Hall of fame.  Yes, there was a tounge in cheek humor there, much like Ms. Applegate used.  Perhaps you should send her a letter to let her know she has more going for her than her breasts as well. I lost my Grandmother to Breast Cancer, and have a dear friend who is a Cancer survivor.  Don't let that get in the way of you jumping to conclusions though.  :salute

Well you know someone has to play the role of PC Police.

Of course anyone who does instantly puts the visual in my mind of the "Leave Britty alone" homo, but hey, what are you going to do right?

while I agree with you,

Although breast augmentation is currently the most popular cosmetic surgery, it is still expensive enough that clients should carefully consider financing options before committing to the procedure.

• Surgeon Fee: approximately $4,000

• Implant Cost: $1,000 (although keep in mind that silicone implants can cost as much as $1,000 more than saline implants)

• Anesthesiologist Fee: $600 to $900

• Facility Fee: $800 to $1,200

• Breast Lift (optional): $4,000

Apparently it is important enough to many to shell out 10k on perfectly healthy ones.

good luck to CA

Most women really fear breast cancer, and having them removed is not a very nice deal.
Anyway, seems like a brave lady, and hats off for her.  :salute

There is a reason why they call it, "acting."
