Tunisia
With the new Tunisia terrain out I sure hope the CM team will plan on using it for FSO next month. It has literally been years since we had some nice desert terrain and desert skins.
Here are some screen shots.

Here are just a few of the skins you will see...

Speaking of N. Africa! :)
The AvA will be trying a new setup idea using the new Tunisia map, hopefully starting on August 24th. The setup is based upon the idea in this thread, but with the new map.

It is being finalized this week. If interested keep an eye on the AvA forum, or possibly join one of the side (Axis/Allied) forums. <S>

What.. you're not familiar with the 'Purina Squadron'?
That's the 109K-9 prototype.
Duh...

Fine, fine .. I got the hint. Looks like October will be Tunisia or Bust and August Storm (Russia vs Japan) will be put off for a bit. We probably could use a break from PTO since we have had a streak of Pacific FSOs for a bit.
-
:aok Your a good man GD.
I actually had no idea what you guys were going to do next, but I figured a hint would be in order since I had not heard anything.
-
Great, all the desert, FSO guys are just gonna drink more. This should be good :uhoh
Man I love this map!

Wow what nice work! Get on it GD :)

Hasn't the setup been alternating between the two theaters?

I'm still wondering why that skin is even in there?
No doubt taken from wings palette, which lists it as 2./Kro.Jgr 1, I don't think it ever existed.
Quick-and-dirty quote (forgive me for copying wiki)
Fighter operations over Croatia 1943-45
Upon its return the squadron was redesignated 1./(Kroat.)JG and sent its Croatian pilots to collect 12 brand new Macchi C.202 fighters direct from the plant in Italy. These aircraft retained their Luftwaffe markings whilst in service with the unit. A second training squadron was also formed, designated 2./(Kroat.)JG and equipped with Macchi C.200 and Fiat CR.42 fighters. After a period of operational conversion, the squadron commenced operations against the frequent incursions over Croatia by USAAF and RAF aircraft. During a period of intensive activity over the summer of 1944, the squadron claimed some 20 Allied aircraft shot down, while at the same time receiving further Macchi C.202s, as well as several brand new Macchi C.205s.
By the end of 1944 the squadron had handed in its remaining worn-out Macchis for brand new German Messerschmitt 109G & K fighters. Over 50 Messerschmitts were delivered to the squadron and the Air Force of the Independent State of Croatia, with the final delivery taking place on 23 April 1945
The camo isn't right (large empty areas on top of it) and the markings don't match normal conventions for other Croatian markings I've seen on 109s and such, and the unit it is supposed to belong to didn't have C.202s to begin with.

Oh no you don't.
If you're gonna get all uppity about the skins of a particular squad during a certain time frame, you better be quoting an order of battle with certified palattes, photographs, and signed witness testimony.
Wiki don't cut it.

The wing markings match early style G.50 and possible Cr.42 styles, but not the camo, and this would have been over Croatian soil in defense against the allies. None of this would have required desert splotch camo, and would have used luftwaffe patterns as delivered from the Italian factories. None of the Croatian fighters served in North Africa it seems, and this markings and camo combination is not seen anywhere but a single artist's profile on wings palette (only slightly more reliable than wiki).
Let's just say I don't think there were any references used in making this skin. It's like SEA camo on a 109F, or something off-the-wall.

Ok.. anybody caught using such obviously errant skins will be flogged and submitted to 27 concurrent showings of 'The best of Star Trek Continuity Bloopers, Season 12 '.
Will that work?
