I am wanting to put together a web site for our squad (Sick Puppies). We are Old School :salute and not many of us are technically savy but I think we can pool our efforts and get something going. My question deals with how to go about doing the website thing. I am considering GoDaddy because they register your domain and all that for you but we would also like to be able to have a discussion forum post pictures video and all that. Does anyone know if GoDaddy can do that? I mean the pictures I think are not much problem. What about functional programs like a forum or BBS package?

After quickly looking at GoDaddy, it seems to have Blog ability but that is the best i have seen. Not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for, but it's all i see. If you are not set on a server there are many good ones, some free some not.
Just as examples:
Site/forum for VBF-18 http://vbf18.wetpaint.com/thread From www.wetpaint.com
Forum only for (+) Precision http://precision.forumakers.com/index.htm From http://www.forumotion.com/
Hope some of this helps.

If you looking to build a "real" site, go daddy and a few of the other are good. What you get is server space, and a basic setup...email and such. Some will have BBS setup you can just plug in as well as code to set up picture upload and films like you want. Unfortunately its a bit more hands on. The more you know about building web pages and such the better off you will be.
On the other hand, if you just want a "place on the web" one of the free site might work out better for you.The Cobra in the Clouds (http://39thfs.bravehost.com/) has a free site on bravehost. They have a more user friendly setup. Most of it is just click and go for the setup. Many templates are available. The problem is server space. Uploading pictures and films will be an issue.
So you have to decide what is more important to you and your squad.

If you don't care about the URL of your website, you can make a free forum at this website:
http://z8.invisionfree.com
You have full admin abilities, you simply won't get the forums under your website's URL. Plus you won't have to deal with the hassle of placing the correct files in the proper directories.
