Title: Perk/sortie
Post by: TonyJoey on August 20, 2008, 03:47:36 PM
I think that Perks/sortie should effect your scoring a little bit, so having a high fighter score might mean a little more than it does now. It would be much harder to get a high rank flyin only temps, u4's, la7's, etc.

Just a thought. Please comment.  :aok

I wouldn't fly for rank, but for those who do it might encourage a little less dweebish flying. ;)

Don't quote me but I'm pretty sure it already does.

Killing an La7 in a 190a8 gets you a better ranking multiplier then killing an La7 in a Pony....

Or is that JUST the perk multiplier?

Anybody?

Just perk multiplier right now. Plane you fly doesnt effect rank (yet) ;)

Except for Greebo and his F6F, most of the top ranked pilots have lots and lots of kills in Tempests and C-Hogs. :P

Well I love the "payday" I get for flying the A8.   Boy do I dislike the dweeb comments just because someone flys an LA7.  I rarely fly it but I respect those that do.  It's a nice ride.

I mean, yeah woot woot, so you can shoot everyone out of the sky with your Wright Flyer  Woot Woot!  Wow we bow to your skill.  Weee.

Having said that.  I think you are on a good track here ToneyJ.  I'd go for that.

I wonder though.  I'd just have to think that if you are a true AHII addict like many of us, then you'd just migrate in time to learning the other more difficult airplanes the game has to offer.

Keep in mind too.  Most of the instructors here worth their salt, will tell you to start in a so called dweeb machine so you can learn and progress into harder fighters.  I did.  And boy am I glad I did.

I dont think you read what i wrote. I said it would help your rank to kill in planes with larger ENY planes instead of dweeb rides. I don't fly dweeb planes. I fly jugs. :aok

No Tony, he read your post just fine.  The response was convoluted, but I did make sense of it.  Basically Jetblast was saying that we shouldn't get fat-headed if we fly aircraft like the P-47 instead of the La-7.

I think this is one of the best wishes we've had in a while.

I like the idea...all the score players would fly 190's thougt

Perks/Sortie would not necessarily, and truly, reflect what you are driving at.

The "perk multiplier" is constantly being adjusted by the "numbers/ENY" in each country.

You could be forced to fly only real high ENY planes (example: Spit I) and still have a perk multiplier of 0.0something, while at the same time, a guy could fly a N1K on the low number team and be working with a perk multiplier of 5.

If the perk multiplier was static, then this might work.

The ENY of the 190 is too high, especially the A8.  I don't get why the 190A8 has an ENY of 30+ while the nearly identical 190F-8 has an ENY of 20.  The only difference is the ords packages, and there are things the A8 can carry that the F8 cannot.  On the other hand, the Ta-152's ENY is too low.  It should be at least 10 or more.

Perks/Sortie would not necessarily, and truly, reflect what you are driving at.

If you got fewer perks/sortie points when your side outnumbered the others, so much the better in my opinion.

Right, but we're talking about a stat that affects rank.

Nothing wrong w/ 190s, other then it can't fight that well vs just about any plane w/ a good pilot in it amirite?

F4Us, P51, P47, Tiff, Temp, all these are great bnzmer and capable of tnbning. The ability to turn helps a lot in bnzming also. Let say I need to crank a quick 6G pull to get a shot off on someone. You can't do it in a 190 as easy. Where in them other plane you can np.

I flew the 152 last night for a good hour, it handle better then any 190s otd low and slow. It felt like I was in a P-47D11 rather then a 190. I've read these guys talk about the crazy snaproll the 152 have (maybe it was something else) but through my 1 hour tnbing that plane last night I couldn't see that snaproll or w/e bug it has. No matter how hard I pull on the stick trying to create the snaproll. The 152 characteristic is a lot different then the rest of the 190s. It's a lot better in turnfighting. I can see why it's a 5 perkie plane, where all the other 190s are 15-31 perkies.

I would rather have a D9 against a Spit or Corsair than a P-51. Possibly I'd even prefer it to the P-47 in this situation. None of the 3 planes turns anywhere near as well as the Spit or Hog anyway, they will all be using E fighting, and the 190s better weight-to-power ratio allows it to maintain an E advantage longer, enough to give you maybe one more gun pass before the E is equal and you have to extend.

Hoarders dont get as high of ranks. ;) On a serious note, this might encourage more people to fly low #'s countries. :aok

The fact that the A8 is 31 ENY and it's basically the same as the F8, if not better in fighting terms.

I like flying it, but I think it's quite cheap when you get 2 kills in it and get nearly 15 perks for it. Hey, I'll take it, but it seems cheap.
