Title: No RIP Gene Upshaw post?
Post by: Ripsnort on August 21, 2008, 02:23:09 PM
Man, what is it with you Raider fans?

Well, here you go. RIP Upshaw, you were a helluva lineman, but you hosed up the NFL with free agency IMHO. (Damned Unions!)

The NFL didn't get hosed by free agency. No company or organization should have rights to another person beyond what an individual is willing to give via contract.

There, I said it.....

Without Gene Upshaw the NFLPA would not be in a position to help the current players once they have moved on. Now that Gene is out of the way perhaps they can begin helping some of those players that built the foundation for the current players to benefit the way they do.

I am sorry to see that he has passed away from pancreatic cancer but now new blood can step in to run the union at least that is what I hope happens.

Free agency and parity saved the NFL, it has grown in income leaps and bounds. It would not surprise me to see an NFL team become worth a billion dollars soon.

Yeah, totally hosed
