Title: Vert stab...
Post by: uberslet on August 23, 2008, 12:18:43 PM
other day i was in a wirbel, I took the vert stab off an il2 and he made a dive, shot, pulled out, then turned before it was obvious it was missing. Then, just yesterday an Osti took off my B25's vert stab and i was able to turn for a couple moments before I lost control. Just bringing it to HTC's attention if they didn't know about this.  :salute

I don't think I've ever lost control immediately upon losing a vertical stabilizer... I'm pretty sure this is intentional.

Same thing happened to me a while back in a Me-110.. I was in the rear gun, and saw both vertical shot off. The plane kept flying normally until I applied rudder, started to spin out of control and went spiraling down.
Unfortunately, I have no film or proof, it was in a furball and never caught my attention.

Somewhere I have a film of an F4U getting his wings and tail shot off while he made another two or three passes on the field strafing guns down. Im pretty sure it was just a lag issue but a really really bad one.
