Is there a way to tell what aircraft the other pilots are flying in an online arena? I like to know what I'm up against prior to an engagement.
-
Usually, NO!
-
Only if you ask them.

Eight times out of 10 I know who I am up against.

That means you are very familiar with the stiles of about 4,000 to 5,000 people ;)

If you're not seeing a red ICON that says "F4U" or "TYPH" etc, then press Alt+I and cycle through icons... Watch out for the ones that say "FLAK"; They bite :aok

Probably that in 6 years of playing. Even folks that don't play anymore, now I know why my wife hates my photographic memory.

I fly a lot of different things. Basically it's whatever I'm in the mood for. But I always come back to the P47, P38, P51.

Film your fights, especially when you see the person doing something you'd like to review later or to review your own performance more objectively. If you're not filming and someone did something interesting always ask who he was either on 200 or the guy who killed him or was killed by him. Pretty soon, if you do those things, you'll get a good idea of who's in what, the dangerous ones anyway. I can recognize most of the better sticks by their behavior, style and plane after the first turn or so.

Channel 200 is the common chat channel, you can chat with all players tuned to it, no matter which country they are on they can hear you and talk to you. You will have to use one of your radio "dials" and type it in there to see everyone's chat on it.
So, if you just had an interesting fight with a Pony you can say on channel 200, "Who was the low Knight Pony at A1 that was fighting a SpitIX".

Thanks.
