is number 10 here something that may be close to historically correct...those with good book. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://users.hol.gr/~nowi/luftprof/jg52/bf109g69jg52hartmann-1_1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://users.hol.gr/~nowi/luftprof/jg52/jg52.html&h=158&w=350&sz=25&hl=en&start=33&um=1&usg=__TqSJxDtXMAAubvLX-hdxJ7ro5ss=&tbnid=ruw7do59d5RtcM:&tbnh=54&tbnw=120&prev=/images%3Fq%3DJG%2B52%2B109%2Bs%26start%3D18%26ndsp%3D18%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26hs%3D5eB%26sa%3DN (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://users.hol.gr/~nowi/luftprof/jg52/bf109g69jg52hartmann-1_1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://users.hol.gr/~nowi/luftprof/jg52/jg52.html&h=158&w=350&sz=25&hl=en&start=33&um=1&usg=__TqSJxDtXMAAubvLX-hdxJ7ro5ss=&tbnid=ruw7do59d5RtcM:&tbnh=54&tbnw=120&prev=/images%3Fq%3DJG%2B52%2B109%2Bs%26start%3D18%26ndsp%3D18%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26hs%3D5eB%26sa%3DN)

Pretty much. I'm not sure about the yellow, but the camo, yes.
We even have a very similar setup in-game:

Other than its colors being just plain wrong, the plane number being different, the cammo layout being different, a different spinner layout, the Geschwader being different it is darn near identical! :rofl
Killnu, let me know if you want me to do a K4 for ya.

I would love one. I am looking for a JG52 K4...and Batz would be a good choice. There are 2 profiles on that page above for a Batz K4. I just do not have the library to know of those are accurate. That page also has a Hartmann K4 profile on it and that has been discussed on here before...and the conclusion was that he never flew the K4....so the page is obviously not the best reference. I understand that. But...yes...a JG52 K4 would be great. I like the yellow around the nose of both Batz profiles to give you an idea. Something to make it stand out some.
-
I will do some digging and send you a few options. Fair warning there is an A5 and another K4 in the queue..
-
That would be great. Thank you.

I agree that nraven's skins have a lot of problems. However it was just an example. His splinter camo was wrong but he was obviously working off of a similar profile to start with.
Was merely trying to supplement my "yes it's basically historical" comment by saying "and we even have something like it in game".
I wasn't necessarily saying "We have it, don't bother" (in this case I'd in fact urge somebody to redo it!)

You didn't use the word "crap" :noid

Aside from wrong camo patterns, I think a lot of Raven's mistakes were compounded by monkeying around with the materials file. His red tulip 109K wouldn't be HALF as bad without the blacklight glowing white effect it has. I ran into something similar when I edited my B-17 material file. I think NRaven just went to town, and that affected how his colors showed up in the end.
(meaning a color just a bit off will look horribly off with the wrong materials.txt file)
I'd like to see a few of his redone properly, though. He shared my taste for some of the more colorful skins.

I've just completed his JG 3 K4 and I submitted it this week, so with any luck it should be in the next skin pack.
Here is a progress shot. I can't remember how far along this is but it looks mostly done, so it'll do for this purpose. It's nice and dirty underneath too, as the photo I have of the aircraft shows.

Might as well put this here too, I submitted two K4s this week and this is the second:

Ok, so far nothing photo wise, but I am looking. This is next on the list. Then I gotta go American again for a B-25 for Dux's Desert terrain.
-
Xasthur, you must have the best graphic settings. I look forward to your images.
-
I got nothing photo wise for the plane(s) you were interested in. Sorry. :frown:
-
is there anything with yellow on the nose...similiar to that? I am after some color on it that makes it stand out...and I like a splash of yellow. :) Really, anything similiar would be ok...it is more the look I am after.
-
Nope, not from JG52.
-
It's no photo, sorry, but it is a higher quality profile of the aircraft you're looking for.
My apologies for the quality of the image, it's just a quick snap in poor light of a profile from a book I have.

This is also interesting..... the caption refers to a poor quality photo of the aircraft.

Hrm... it's not very normal to have such large splashes of yellow on end-of-war planes.
They were targets, hunted all the time. They removed all distinguishing marks in the closing months except tail bands, most of the time. Even the crosses became minimalistic to reduce visibility.
I'm very skeptical of brightly painted yellow noses and rudders on 109Ks. The exception is the black or red tulip noses on 1-2 aces' personal rides.
Might want to double check your second one... Says "this is an interpretation, we couldn't tell based on the photo quality" -- and it doesn't follow ANY norms/conventions for end-of-war markings. 74/76 upper camo in no standard pattern?? Giant oversized yellow nose ring?? Yellow rudder? All signs point to no, just based on this one profile. If there's more supporting pics, that's something, but just that profile alone isn't enough IMO.
-
That's why I posted it, mate. His explanation suggests that it's just the colour that is hard to interpret, not the detail.
If it's not that book, it's another one I have that suggests that those yellow marks were used to aid in friendly recognition in Boddenplatte.
I can't be sure about that until I check the ref but I have to go to work now
