Bf 109 G-6
Leutnant Alfred Hammer, 6./JG 53 Cancello, Italy, August 1943

Since this series of photos shared with the requestee I have added the JG53 badge on the nose (both sides) and turned down the gear panel lines. Anyone want to guess who requested it? :)

Final

Argh.. Didn't get to submit my crit before final :) I'd say the panels are too regular. A tiny bit of irregularity would go a long way to make them look less synthetic.
-
Well its not submitted. Care to elaborate on that Moot? I am not following what you mean, the panels are sheetmetal and are built for mass production.. (obviously I don't get it) :)

I suspect he means that the dirt build-up effect in the panel lines looks too uniform.
Most of the photos of 109s that I have show fairly sharp panel line relief on the fuselage (as opposed to 190s which were relatively light), so I don't think you're too far off the mark with them but I see what he means. The panel lines are quite sharp. It is most evident on the light blue and white areas of the fuselage, I think, where the contrast makes the panel lines look too deep or really really dirty. I noticed the same thing on your 190 A6 too. Clearly you have more experience with these sort of things but I try to soften the panel lines a little in areas where the paint is lighter. The contrast is so extreme that the effect becomes overpowering. I find that whilst a certain panel line opacity looks perfect on darker greys and greens it needs to be a little lighter in areas with lighter colours. I just spray a little of the base colour (RLM 76 for example) over the offending panel lines. I find that this achieves a slightly more consistant effect as far as the perception of the depth of the panel lines goes.
That's just what I prefer, though. I do like your subtle rivets, nice and accurate.
One other thing, while I'm at it, I don't think I've ever seen the dirt build up on the main gear covers like that. Ignore me if you've seen something like that but I don't recall ever seeing anything that severe even on really dirty 109s. Maybe mud spattering and caking on the lower sections but never sharp panel line build up.
Nice work, as always, Fencer.

Fencer, if you look at pretty much any 109 photo, the panels in particular...
You'll notice that, where mostly the panel lines are very faint and, in areas where there are moving parts (in particular, ailerons, rudders, elevators, canopy joints and landing gear) generally are separated by a noticeably darker line. But, also, panels that receive lots of work- in particular, the cowling doors on the 109, where it's very noticeable- there is also a fairly large gap (certainly much more so than on other places on the aircraft). You have to look fairly closely on most pictures to get all of the panels, but normally you'll notice that the lines around the cowling in general are deeper.

You do great work on BMF skins, but I've always felt your camo was a little off. Do you think you could soften the edges on the mottling a bit? It's too hard-defined to me.
What have you got going on filter-wise on the upper wing crosses?
This isn't a comment, just a question: I know there are a lot of online resources, which did you use for your color selection on this skin? You probably mentioned it before (in another thread) but I don't recall.
I like the paint scheme. I think the G-6 is overlooked somewhat, and it's good to see new variations of it.

I've noticed this a bit too...

Sorry I don't open this forum too often anymore. I gotta run but I'll come back and explain what I meant.

So... you used an artist's profile to choose the colors?? :huh
Or are you saying you used an artist's profile to mimick the mottling?
I'm not sure what your reply means. There's no new words in it, only old quotes.
-
Well the Colors are shown on the Profile. It is a standard RLM74/75/76 scheme. I guess I am not getting what you are talking about.

What he means, (I think), is where you got the RGB values for the RLM colors. Simmerspaintshop swatches? Or another place?
