Aces High Bulletin Board

I've been having a frustrating connection lately. My internet takes a little bit longer than usual to load, along with all my internet requiring applications.
I can play aces high online, but I warp constantly. (no frame-rate drop)
This all started after I attempted to open my NAT so that my 360 could work better online... after that the internet stopped, but everybody in the house's internet (laptops) worked perfectly fine. I connected wireless, undid all my ports, and then everything worked okay.
Then I tried to open up my ports again in a different way... however, the internet didn't stop, it just became dead slow. Later that day it sped up (after I disconected from wireless) but still not that fast... I undid the ports (or so I think) and it didnt change anything.
Plus, on a side note, my computer takes 30 minutes to shut down once it reaches the "shutting down" screen.
ANY ideas on what could be going on?

Your XBox could be flooding your NAT tables. That is just a guess.
To isolate the issue, I would try directly connecting to your Internet service first and see if everything acts normally. By-pass the router altogether.
Road Runner has been switching to Level3 for thier Internet backbone which has been causing some serious performance issues. It could also be related ot the overall Internet issues due to schools starting up. Happens every year.

I'm not a computer guru but: 1. Update your virus program & do a complete computer scan.
2. Down load a copy of "Spybot search & destroy" & check for spyware & ad-ware. The last 2 items listed have given me a lot of grief in the past.
3. Is your wireless system secure? Possibly some else sharing your network. :noid :pray

How would I go about doing that?
