Title: Gijoe 2009
Post by: Wyld45 on August 27, 2008, 03:48:57 AM

Been a HUGE Gijoe fan since a kid in the '70s',not too sure
about this movie though. Afraid I might have to give it a big-fat
                F A I L !  after I see it.

What's next!?!?!?!?

Hello Kitty?
Josie and the popsicle-cats?
He-man?
Johnny Quest?
Dragon Ball?
Voltron?
Robotech (Macross Saga)?
Star Blazers (space battleship Yamato)?

There's endless lists of comics for Hollywood to milk on.  There's even more, almost ten-fold if they look for more in the Orient.

But to be fair, Hollywood is churning out good comic-based movies lately, such as Iron Man and Batman Dark Knight.

What's next!?!?!?!?

Josie and the thumb-cats?

Came out a couple years ago with Rachael Leigh Cook and bombed BIG time

He-man?

Been there, done that (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masters_of_the_Universe_(film))

Voltron?

Negotiations in process

I have been reading up on the G I Joe movie and It looks bad.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1046173/

Look at the pictures and cast.  I was excited at first but the more I hear about this movie the more I am worried it is going to suck. :cry

Dragon Ball has a numbner of animated movies, but I thought someone was doing a live action movie of Dragon Ball

Space Battleship Yamato might be interesting if it was a CG movie (if it was produced correctly and had good actors, not poor hollywood choices).

Actually I would really REALLY like to see that

Love the original GI Joe, before the Kungfu Grip...
Love the Original Johnny Quest too, the theme song is STILL COOL!!!
Star Blazers was pretty cool too... Space Marines, OHHHH YEAH!!!!

Who knows what hollywood will do with it... Probably nothing good!!!

Actually Jonny Quest might work, but only if the studio sticks to the pre-PC culture format of the original. Before it was neutered in it's second incarnation (replacing Hadji with a girl), the show was like an animated James Bond movie. Imagine that, people actually dying in a cartoon! Then the networks got on their "Violence in Cartoons" kick and we had to wait 30 years for the WB's Batman/Superman and of course, Japanese imports.

Trivia Question:
Do you guys know who did the voice for Jonny?

Just another sign that Hollywood has been out of original ideas for quite a while now.

Somehow, those AARP guys had me pegged when i turned 50... the pressure is still on 7 years later. Last I heard, when I turn 62, the Old People Police will show up, toss my crap on a truck and I'll be relocated to a Wrinkle Ranch Concentration Camp in Florida.

The cartoon transformers movie ruined the original GI Joe cartoon movie.  When parents saw a bunch of transformers taking lazer blasts to the gut and dying they flipped out.  Hell, Optimus bit it in that one, leading to Rodimus Prime (hee hee).

When all the complaints got to the toy company they had to heavily edit the GI Joe cartoon movie, Duke was suppoused to die along with some others.  Instead it was back to more of the same from the TV series: rockets hitting planes, boats, and tanks just after everyone bails out and lasers flying everywhere but not seeming to hit anything.

The fact that you're on a first name basis with Duke and the rest of the GI Joe gang is, well....  disturbing :D

Jonny's voice? I guess I should have been clearer. I meant the original. JAGED nailed it earlier. Tim Matheson.

worst ever huh?    :huh

Going by box office results you'd be wrong.

Going by critics reviews you'd be wrong.

Going by what I say you'd be wrong.  (I say it isn't the worst)

So what exactly deflates it below say, Alien: Resurrection (the worst movie I ever paid money to see)?

The stupid chick driving the huge truck with Bumblebee on the back.. The code imprinted on a pair of glasses.. Pathetic attempts to sound epic by protecting 'the humans'... wtf??  :huh) Not to mention the polt went nowhere..

The majority of the movie just made me cringe..

Ridiculous situations..

The movie is about giant robots that disguise themselves as human vehicles...I mean...how could you claim any part of it was ridiculous if you knew it was about giant robots that disguise themselves as human vehicles to begin with?

BOT:

The GIJOE movie will be what the transformers movie was, a kids/young adult movie primarily but along with references, vehicles, and names that people born in the 80's who grew up with the cartoon will recognize.
