10 years ago, it was a royal pain in the arse to get my US permanent residence processed.
Tons of paperwork.
Then i'm told the gov. lost my documents and I needed to resubmit. This..after them having my paperwork for almost a year.
So anyways... resubmitted the thing and waited.. and it finally came in the mail.
fast forward to April of this year...
Download a 4 page form. Fill it out. Mail it.
2 months later I get a reply to be interviewed by a gov. official by Aug 21st.
come Aug 21st..
Go to interview, spend an hour waiting.. get called.. was asked 6 questions any elementary school kid could answer. Was told I passed, to have the final stage of the process done the following week, Aug 28th.
I was in shock. I was expecting a 6 month to a year wait... as almost everyone I knew that had gone through this had told me it was.
This morning I walk out of the oath ceremony a US citizen.
:aok

You did it legally?
What a sap. ;)
Congratulations Tac!
Who you voting for?
-
Thats the irony of it. I did it because I wanted to vote for Ron Paul.
I have no interest in the sweetheart bags that are running now. :P

Congrats and welcome to the club.. but I think you got lucky with how smooth & fast it went. I have a friend that has been waiting the last 3 years for that same interview. He got his permanent residence about 10 or 11 years ago and has been waiting quite some time on the citizenship.

No wonder traveling in a seasoned van across the Rio Grande is soo much more popular!
