Figger Skuzzy will enjoy this.
We all know how Skuzzy loves Comcast LOL
No better link description needed then the first paragraph of the article.
Comcast has announced that it will in fact be introducing bandwidth caps to all residential customers. The cap, which will go into effect as of October 1, will be 250GB per month. Comcast justifies the decision by saying that it's "an extremely large amount of data," and that a very large majority of customers will never cross it.

And what of those customers that have several computers hooked up?
In my house we currently have 3. Soon to be 4.
Fortunately Im no longer with Comcast.
Their arrogance when they were the only game in town for both TV and cable irritated me to no end.
when I switched over to Fios They called me to try to get me to come back. When I told them I was getting X,Y,and Z more for the same price the man said.
"Well we could have done that for you too."
My responce was.
"Well then why didnt you?" And I hung up.
This just seals their fate in my house

So 10+ 5gb porn movies per computer a month is not enough? :)
I think a cap is not going to affect 95% of their customers.
I'm sure if one needs more, it is available for a price.
To think bandwidth is unlimited is unrealistic ...
You realize capping the abusers, helps the rest right?
-
If someone could guarantee that the limit wasn't going to change over the next ten years I wouldn't be so worried. However I doubt this will be the case. I bet the limit will gradually be reduced year after year under the guise 'to reign in all those abusers'.
-
The only people this is really going to effect is people who pirate videos and music.
Thieves suck.
Don't like comcast? Go with DSL :D

I bet it effects hard core porn junkies too. :P

I'm not so sure they will need to lower the limit in the future but in 10 years who knows, the way internet usage is expanding 250GB might amount to one days worth of bandwidth.

True, true, but come now. what porn junkie doesnt have a BIG sata drive filled with it now?

Is it ever enough for the junkies? ;)

Man's that's nothing!
In Las Vegas, my COX "preferred plan" has 40gb download limit / 10gb upload limit
-
You can just get yourself the proper software tools, and "borrow" a neighbors bandwidth when necessary. :devil
-
I would love a 250GB bandwidth limit! I have a 12GB download and 3GB upload limit, and with 5-6 computers hooked up to it, we almost never exceed the limit. People may complain a limit is bad, but 250GB is as mentioned much more than anyone will probably use in a month. If you are using that much, lay off the Naughty sites a little :O.

I'd exceed your limit in a day, without downloading a single piece of pr0n. 250gb may last me a month, but I doubt it :(

Have a feeling this will affect a lot of small businesses and people working out of their homes. I'm sure that's one of the groups Comcast has in their sites. Now they can sell them their "Small Business Internet ServiceTM"

How much bandwidth does an online game like Aces High use as you're playing?

Thats a good question.

I'm not sure about AH, but IIRC playing HL mods and their download was about 4-6kb/sec. That's 300kb a minute or 17.5mb an hour. So let's say you put in 60 hours a tour, thats about 1050mb (1.05gb) a month just in AH.
And if you flew 24/7 (30 days a month), thats 12,600mb or 12.6gb.
-
lets ask the expert, scuzzy how much AH can i play with 250GB/ month?

Well with the 240 hours one tour i logged and others using the internet, we never exceeded the limit. So it would take a lot of just AH to exceed 12GB, now on a 250GB AH alone would never exceed it. Add in streaming, downloading large files, and things of the sort then it's possible.
This is just my small understanding :D.
